Injuries don't stop champions from showing up

I have new respect for JH. She did not have to play, was defending champion - and gave it her best. I watched part of the match, and the opponent was playing smart ball.

Capriati showed up at the Australian as the defending champion after eye surgery, and wanted to give it her best and lost.

Venus is nursing an injury - and showed up - and is doing the best w/ what she has.

Say what you want, but these players give 100% and have a lot of heart.
I would put Serena in this category as well.

They have all been #1, and they provide us with thrills and lots to talk about

Yes, some may call it foolhardy, but I call it very brave. Their support for the game is wonderful and should be held up as a great example. Not everything can always go right for champions but it is how one reacts that proves whether they are great or not. These certainly are. Allez Juju! Get well soon!
