I'm so sad Pova is not around. I'd love to see how she would fare against the new and improved version of Kerber.

2012 Sharapova vs 2016 Kerber:
Who would win between these 2? On clay it's obvious, but what about grass and HC?

2012 was Peak Vika and she would destroy Kerber 2016 for sure and I think Pova would have the upper hand vs the new Angie as well.

Who'd you pick?

 Oh boy... on clay? Masha wins... everywhere else? This Kerber isn't your grandma's Kerber.

If it wasn't supposed to be a bait thread, it would have been an okay speculative question thread.
I don't know why it should be that obvious for hard, they are even 1-1 in 2012 and Kerber's loss came through a retirement.

2016ber has a better 1st serve, focus, self-confidence and anticipation IMO.

OK, Im not a Maria or a Kerber fan. judging by the style of play I think Maria would win. She does well against pushers she doesnt like when someone is overpowering her and I know that she has lost agains Woz but I just don't see how Kerber can hurt her that much. I know that Kerber has won against Maria the last couple of times but I think that the H2H would be really close. Now, if Azarenka wasn't pregnant I think Kerber wouldn't have those 2 slams to brag about or even the 1 ranking.

She beat Azarenka to win one of her slams before Azarenka was pregnant.

Therefore kindly explain how she wouldn't have the slam in which she beat Azarenka if Azarenka wasn't pregnant :tape: I don't understand

Think a lot of people here are a tad delusional about Kerber's ability. She's had an amazing season beyond her dreams, but the massive drop in the form of the top players has played a massive part in her rise. She's coming through with her best form at just the right time when superior competitors all have their hindering issues.

The pecking order was always Serena and everybody else anyway.. now Serena's come to earth, it's basically anybody's game.
We don't need to act like Masha or Vika were some out of reach opponents...they were just second fiddle to Serena, so basically nothing changed.

Sharapova 2012 lost to: Azarenka 4x, Serena 3x, Radwanska, Lisicki, Kerber, Stosur

Kerber 2016 lost to: Azarenka 2x, Makarova, Bencic, Zheng, Allertova, Stephens, Strycova, Bouchard, Bertens, Navaro, Williams, Arruabarrena, Halep, Puig, Pliskova

apart from that 2012 lose to Kerber i don´t think Kerber would be a problem for Maria, Vika and Serena were her main rivals
