Who will win the Roland Garros women's title?

Step right up and make your bets. This year's Roland Garros title will possibly be the most wide open that it has been in several years.

Amelie just won the Italian Open, but Capriati came in second beating SERENA in the process.

Venus is playing very well and Davenport may be preparing to make her move as well. Justine is recouperating from a virus and should be at 10% by May 24 also.

Take your pick. You have until May 25 to choose.

My brain and gut say Amélie. My heart says Serena or Venus.

Can't tell. But I'm pretty sure it's between Amelie, Jen, Serena and Venus depending on her recovery.

"Playing aggressive tennis ... that's always the way to go, if you ask me." - Venus Williams, May/2002
"Some shots I will hit hard but not every ball. I'm not just using my power." - Serena Williams, Oct/2002

In light of recent events (ie. Serena's loss to Capriati and Justine not playing all clay season and Kim's withdrawal), I'm going to say Venus, which is amusing seeing that a couple of weeks ago I was saying to someone that I would by no means ever consider her a favourite for the title.

If VENUS is healthy, considering the way she was playing prior to the injury, i would say she would definitely be the favorite.

I really hope one of the 6 draws someone like Kuznetsova or Sprem early...then we'll see where they really are and if they can win the title.

It's going to be an american, either Lindsay, Venus, Jenn, or Serena, i think Vee would probably be the fav out of those four, but we just have to see how her ankle is doing, and also depending on If Lindsay wins strasburg, which i think she can do, she will show she is ready to make the move.

I am slowly converting you to my philosophy and mind set, my friend.

Also, VENUS and Amelie are the clear poll leaders at this time.

I'd like to see one match of Venus' before I make this prediction but assuming her ankle is good to go, She's the favorite in my book. Even if Amelie makes the final and has to deal with Venus, I believe the 4 time grand slam champion will prevail - let's not forget that Mauresmo's last GS final appearance was 5 years ago.
