First of All, Congrats to Jen. But It's Really Not That Serious

Congratulations Jennifer Capriati, I'm glad you're playing better.
However, she really SHOULD have beaten Serena.

Serena hasn't really been at her best tennis level since...well its been awhile...Paris '03 maybe? Sure she's played sporatically well, thrashing one opponent and then playing slip shot tennis the next match, but I really think those domineering days are, not over, but stalled.

While I'm still praying for an All-Williams Final at RG, I'm really starting to wonder.
Anyway, I just wanted to say that, without trying to be a "hater", while Jen is commended for her win...she really should've won.

But anyway for the Williams Fans, don't worry because when Venus beats Serena in the RG final, this will all be moot.

uhmmm.....just not taking advantage of the opportunities....she was cruising thtourhg her service games and had some bp´s, didn´t convert them...and that was it. I still think that Serena will regain her dominating form soon.

Always bet on black!
Can you handle the truth?

thats what I mean.

It's not like Jen (presumably, as she never has) was hitting winners all over the place. Serena was misfiring.

Thats all, and I agree, she'll be back.

I don't why some people thing serena played so bad she just made a lot of mistake, and beside this is her only 3th tourament of 2004, give the girl some prop............jennifer needed this win more then serena did..............serena will re:group herself get ready for the FO and she will see what happens.............the girl is a fighter and she did will this week how many players make it to the semi after a 9month lay off............give her that at least.

CONGRATS TO JCAP!

But I somewhat agree with you. She SHOULD have won this match...and at least 4 out of those last 8 she lost to Serena. This has to be a great day for Jennifer and I hope her father takes her out for some nice Italian DINNAH! And although a devot Williams fan, THIS MAKES THE FO SOOOOOO MUCH MORE INTERESTING.

Justine - I know she's showing up this slam. She's defending champ, she's been giving us all this mono hoopla to try and sneak in and take the title. When's the last time somone defended their Roland Garros title?

Venus - Perhaps I'm just in denial but I can't see her missing this either...not with all the recent OVERDUE successes. If she's there, SHE'LL WIN.

Jennifer - like I said above, she should have beaten Serena several times before...so it's simply odds that she won this match. But the cappster thrives on this kinda confidence and I imagine her a force up through the semis'.

Amelie - Physically speaking SHE HAS THE BEST SHOT. Let's see if she can work the home court to her advantage finally.

Serena - ALWAYS A FACTOR. She WANTS revenge for the blood shed last year. If she makes the final against anyone other than Venus, SHE'LL WIN.

These are my favorites going into the French. with Kuznetsova, and Zvonereva making the "dangerous list."

And once everyone comes back in great health and great form, we will all have our answers to our biggest question: Who is the best of the best. On paper, it is Justine. But Amelie is a red-hot player right now. Venus was playing very well in April and Early May. Cappy is also regaining top form. Lindsay has been awfully quiet, but still has a clay court title win this year. The Russians are are always formidable opponents. Who? Who? Who is going to win Roland Garros? We'll find out once ____?____ lifts the Ladies trophy on June 5, 2004.

Serena Williams -21 Time Major Champion
Venus Williams - 7 Time Major Champion

exactly, so this is really good.

Especially if Lindsay wins Strasbourg.
I'm really hoping Dinara Safina finally shows what she's capable of though

Whats so funny is that the Jen fans are thrilled that she beat Serena not that shes going to a final. SO when jen loses to momo they will be happy because "at least she beat serena."

Wow that sure is exciting when a top player grandslam winner beats another top tenner but loses the touranment....

For the top players its about winning the tourament not a single match.

Serena will shake the rust off and get her clay feet moving again and will do well in the french of course she hasnt had a title draught like jen has had.

So GO SERENA GO JEN AND GO MOMO who I want to win.

The WTA Women of Wonder Featuring....The Goddess: Venus Williams The Glamazon: Serena Williams The Lioness: Jennifer Capriati The High Priestess: Monica Seles The Saint: Kim Clijsters The Phoenix: Chanda Rubin The Bon Vivant: Amelie Mauresmo The Titan: Lindsay Davenport The Courtesan: Anna Kournikova The Exile: Martina Hingis The Sorceress: Anatasia Myskina The Minx: Maria Sharapova

I'd be shocked and stunned if Capriati beat Mauresmo, but that doesn't mean she didnt have a good week

Hey Mmcdonald.

SLIP SHOT? THAT IS NOT THE PHRASE.

And did you really say Serena was "domineering"??? Why don't you try understanding words before you use them? Or at least buy a dictionary.

this isn't exclusive to jen fans
say if serena and justine met in the semis again this year, and serena beat justine and lost the final fans would have been absolutely overjoyed that she took out justine... that losing the final wouldn't get as much attention. the climax would have been the semifinal...

That makes about as much sense as usual.

Talk about a back-handed compliment....oh well, I'll take it since this is the 1st time EVER that mmcdonald has said something nice about Ms. Capriati. And I wont glout, because that ain't cool! Serena you did very well in your 1st red clay tourney, and I'm sure you will continue to improve and find your form. I wish Serena and her fans all the best.

Considering there is always a next day and tomorrow, this loss isn't the end of the world. After having Serena out for such a long time, taking her for granted and her wins and performances isn't a thing for me anymore. Every action is put into perspective. Serena is still coming back and she will be back. There is nothing to be disappointed or sad about.

Congrats to Jen on a win and Serena for a good tournament.
