That was pretty much perfect! :hearts:

It wasn't only defensive from Aga, you know - she was hitting and counterpunching hard out there. Just with much more control, finesse and accuracy. I think Jessica had nothing to lose and tried to beat Aga with big strokes, probably knowing in advance that she had no chance in longer rallies in Aga's range of power.

:hatoff:

Not too much to say. Aga did what was needed and did it quite efficiently. Just her first serve percentage seemed to be dropping later in the second set which led to Pegula's only BP opportunity.

Should mention Aga won the first 12 points of this match. Pegula probably nervous and as typical in a first meeting with Aga probably surprised to see her bigger shots coming back at her.

Pegula was hitting everything with biggest power, but most of her shots were going out. I saw her for the first time, so I don't know if it was her strategy or it's her game style.

Aga didn't have many chances to have an initiative today, so I can't say anything about her form. Broady can be dangerous in the 2nd round, she was impressive against Laura.

Pegula Tarantula almost destroyed the net today. Ninja was silently taking a rest. Now Broady,if she flops to disgusting crybaby I really don't know what I will do. But she always flops to the worst people. :SNE:

Broady, Garcia, Bacsinszky, Venus.. Not easy draw, but it will be interesting to see
She's going to need Halep to beat Serena
I think the top half is much tougher than the bottom, and Aga should be one of the top 2 or 3 contenders if Serena loses
