After her loss to Denisa Allertova at US Open, Ana Ivanovic just said for Serbian media that she is not even thinking about retirement. She said wrist surgery is a possibility, as it is inflamed again. Also, team changes (read Nigel Sears maybe leaving) are finally on table.

More soon...

Well this season just sucked and Ana hit the new low again, but at least she is finally aware of what was happening in last 2 years. This is not her tennis, she made a big mistake with re-hiring Nigel.

I hope that her wrist will be fine and surgery won't be needed, and if the R thing is now definitely out of the question, then I hope she is ready for major changes and big hard work. Ajde see you in 2017! :cheer:

Finally some wisdom and reasonable decisions.

"You know, it's been very frustrating that throughout the year I felt like my forehand has actually been letting me down, and that's something that's my biggest strength."

She is finally aware of the fact that her FH is ruined.

"Before when I traveled with one or two persons I was doing much better. You know, these other things that can I have these are the things I have to think about."

Nemanja and Zlatko.

Our girlfriend is a bit on the slow side.

Oh great, two more years of thinking about it...Then making the change... then getting used to the new setup...Just in time for the next Olympics to try again and fail because of the pressure and because she wants it too much.

The girl is doing everything right, the only problem is that she is living a human life at the speed of a sequoia's.

:bounce:

Despite right now things not looking good at all, she is 28 years old, period of life when in this decade many WTA players started to play theirs career best tennis and to produce career best GS results!

Don't give-up Ana, just forget this 2016 on-court nightmare, and prepare yourself for new beginning!

Well, she knows better what's good for her.

Personally I didn't want her to retire, not even wish her after all the crap losses she had. Everything it's up to her.

But, girl, fire Sears already, do something because it's painfully worrying.

And heal your wrist:hug:

Ivanovic makes five times as much money off the court as on it. (Actually, the numbers are probably even more lopsided given the shit year she's had.) If you just look at it financially, she's not an athlete, she's a model. And she's in the top twenty highest earnings models in the world, possibly edging into the top ten. And none of the rest of the models are ranked in the top 30 in a sport.

She does very well in tennis as a second job, but if she wants to do better at it, she's probably going to have to drop the modeling career. Her best success as a tennis player came before the modeling career took off. I think the two just aren't compatible.

I think that she overreacted with "possible surgery" thing. If it was so bad, I doubt she'd be able to play and train throught the year. It's probably minor injury that she as an athlete has to carry on, like many other athletes do, everyone has some problem that comes with years.

But she has to change the team immediately. Whole team. Like, now. I find these statements of hers more encouraging. Changes are coming, let's hope for the best.

If "couple of purple patches" equals 3 years in top 5/top 10 and No.1 at one point, then ok.

On retirement: 2016 is now definitely Ana's worst season. Even in her darkest years (2010-2012) she was able to stay in top 20, having good runs here and there. This time however, Ana really has no a single good result to build on. Her whole season was a disaster and she won't even be close to finish the year inside top 20. Then, the marriage happened and I guess people were thinking (including myself) that retirement might be in her plans, though I always thought that she is likely to play one more full season, 2017. But now it seems that she will keep playing for at least 2-3 years more.

as much as i hope she can be back in top 10 playing some solid tennis, i don´t think this will happen again, she is just a little better version of Hantuchova, and her career sadly reminds of Dani´s career. I can see Ana being top 20 or 30 player for some periods of time if she invests lots to her comeback, but nothing more
