Quite an impressive turnaround. She was struggling to beat unranked players a couple of weeks ago.She progressed more in two weeks than she had in a whole year.
Amazing turn around, few weeks ago she couldn't hit a barn door for trying now she's won a tournament and in the MD of the US Open. I wonder if Konta's Stanford title and Team GB's performance as a whole at the Olympics inspired her/gave her the kick up the bum she needed?
You might be onto something regarding the Olympics. Her career highlight was winning the silver medal in mixed four years ago but this time around she could only watch it from afar whilst playing some lowly ITF. That must've hurt.
Excellent result for Laura. Well done on turning around what seemed a fairly hopeless situation only a few weeks ago. Let's hope she gets a half decent draw now.
I wouldn't have predicted that a couple of weeks ago! It must be tough to come back after such a long time out and deal with as many losses as she's had. It's great to see her on a winning streak again. Hopefully the draw will be kind and she can get another couple of wins here.
I saw her live in her opening qualifying match in Lexington and she was abysmal. Nice to see her qualify here.
Also just read she had hoped for a wildcard, didn't think she would get it, flew to Italy for a vacation, landed and heard she got a WC and flew back to NYC 7 hours later.
Hope she does some damage in the MD. Her game is a beauty to watch when she is on. I saw small glimpses live
