This is a great draw. Very balanced and so many good potential matches in each round.

That being said, if Serena gets through her first round and she is healthy she should be fine to the final.

Yeah, but it can be good warm-up before match with Serena.
And it can be a potentially great match if Simona plays with positive attidute.

It's good draw for Aga to reach 4th round, anything further than this will be a success.
Jules has very tough draw. :(

R1

Serena vs Makarova :help:

Vesnina vs Kontaveit AGAIN  (They just met in New Haven)

If Pliskova loses to Kenin :haha:

Strycova vs Niculescu

Kuznetsova vs Schiavone

Lisicki vs Putintseva

Kvitova vs Ostapenko :speakles:

Lucic vs Cornet

Tough R1 for Serena against Ekat, but still think she'll prevail in two tight sets. Besides that tough opener she basically has a cakewalk to R16. Ivanovic to flop R1 to Allertova, who is capable of playing very well on her day, Stosur could flop to Giorgi too if she doesn't play well. Shvedova could go far here, has a pretty soft draw to reach R4 if she plays well like she can.

CSN drew the jackpot against Teliana, but has a tough 2R against potentially Jankovic. Kontaveit against Vesnina is also another tough opener for both as both are very capable ballstrikers on their day. Halep could easily lose to Flipkens if she isn't careful because Kirsten has a very unconventional game, tough R2 against Gavrilova/Safarova too. Could see Halep bombing out early here.

Aga has pretty much the best draw she's had at the USO in years, all the seeds in her section aren't in particularly good form. Bertens could spring an upset though and make it through this relatively soft section to another GS QF. Bouchard/Garcia should be good if both make it their first rounds.

I know of Karolina's extremely dismal record at Slams but surely she won't flop to a wildcard in Kenin?! Regardless, I see her losing in R2 to Kovinic anyway. Chirico could upset Pavs if she plays well and Pavs is in error mode, Venus has a tough R2 in Goerges/Wickmayer, which I could see her losing on an off day -- especially if she doesn't serve well.

Konta v Mattek-Sands should be a cracker, hopefully BMS takes winning the XD Gold into developing confidence for her singles game, and JoKo plays very well on these type of hard courts. Crawford could spring an upset against Belinda again like she did earlier this year in Brisbane, could easily hit BB off the court with her immense power. Muguruza-Puig rematch in R3 should be good. Puig could have yet another breakthrough with her draw if Mugu flops early.

Seriously, Vinci's ranking after this USO :hysteric: I could easily see her losing to ALF R1 considering her recent form and her injury (allegedly) sustained in NH. R2 against McHale possibly isn't easy either. Putintseva-Lisicki should be a match full of drama :oh: Cibulkova has the perfect draw to go deep in yet another hard court slam, hopefully she takes advantage of it.

Kvitova-Ostapenko again :spit: I totally see Petra losing this match, she HATES New York and the USO, but Jelena doesn't play particularly well at the Slams either, so... a toss-up really. After Petra gets through the initial hurdle she has a relatively soft draw to R4 to face Kerber. Kerber's R1 is as good as a BYE but has a tough R2 especially if its MLB who can hit her off the court.

So... overall a pretty brutal first two sections for Serena/Halep and Aga by far has the easiest section.

Predictions:
Serena - Safarova
Aga - Venus
Keys - Konta
Cibulkova - Kerber

SF:
Serena - Venus
Keys - Cibulkova

F:
Serena - Keys

Madison to make her first GS final here, certainly has the draw to do it if she plays well.

Last year OTHER from last seeded 25-32 group won the title, so I expecting this season the same success from some OTHER (25-32 seeded) player

Serena has a rotten draw on paper, but Ana and Stosur aren't in good form. If she's healthy though she won't be troubled. Kerber vs Kvitova R4 will decide a who comes through the bottom quarter I think.

Halep could go far here if somebody else takes care of Serena

SF guesses

Serena vs First time slam SFist nobody expects
Keys vs Kerber

Nice prediction, 3 out of 4 :)

I think Keys will go far.
As usual, lost against a good defender

Aga's draw is really good. But, I just know she will flop somehow :hysteric:
You knew it :sobbing:

Looking forward to see how Pica performs in R1, after such a rollercoaster during the summer
Well... :tape:

with that draw probably another Serena vs Kerber final
Almost. Pliskova ruined the show.

Kerber might be number 1 at the end of the fortnight ...and might even win it all ...
:clap2:

It will be Karo Pliszka.

sob Agnieszka
It was Pliskova. But Aga didn't even face her

Venus has a good draw to Defend points here. She really needs it after having such a good Asian swing last year.

I want her at YEC and I want her finishing in the top 5 this year. It's possible she just needs to peak at Beijing.

Queen Mynx of the Baltic sea will rise from fallen dust to bring smiles to the faces of some on the other side of the pacific ocean. She will slay the names the one after another. @chingching

I never voted on such polls because guessing WTA events is just silly. This time I had to do something for the first time in order to create something for the first time. You know what I mean.. :D
So far I brought my player a lot of good jinx in last events, lets see how my "charm" works this time.
I shell pray to Constanza in 3 religions from now on until the end of USO ;)

Predicting in WTA is no longer healthy.

However, I'm leaning towards belief that Kerber, Halep, Keys will all do well. Ostapenko is Kvitova nemesis, so another upset probably. Someone will randomly do a Vesnina from Wimbledon and reach semifinals.

Genie keeps drawing Radwanska at the slams :help: Ugh. Why cant she draw some other top seed (not named Kvitova ) instead ...

Tough section for Angie. Lucic Baroni is always dangerous if her BBB is working.

Not even going to mention Makarova's "luck".
