Why do Players decided to "SHOW UP" Against a Williams Sister???

I've notice lower ranked players and other top players Roll Over and play dead with everyone Else...But a Williams Sister. Is it because Venus and Serena are a Standard Of Excellence?

Examples: Chanda Rubin, never shows up against Kim, or Amelie....but when she plays Venus or Serena...she's unbelievable.

Jennifer Capriati- Rolls over playing Amelie, Justine, Kim....but when she plays Serena...it's War, and she tries to War against Venus.

Amelie Mauresmo- Plays awsome against the sisters....usually Rolls over and play dead against everyone else.

Lisa Raymond- Can't hit a forehand with her ass, but put Venus or Serena across the net, and she plays like she's possessed.

Maggie Maleeva- C ranked player, but put her up against the sisters and she plays like a Battered Wife running from her husband.

Karolina Sprem-Losing to Loosers, but plays like a demond against Venus. Go Figure

I think it's good for tennis. Even when I play people that i think are Better than me, and I play better. So that motivation is good.

There are a host of others..maybe they do see the sisters as a standard of excellence. I guess it's good to give your best against the TOP PLAYERS, they trying to make a name for themselves.

Go Figure

ooooo foot-fault your gonna be mince meat if Conchita fans read what you just said

Frankly, I think and I have said this alot, the sisters have raised the bar for women's tennis unlike any top players in history.

I just think that in the past, the majority of players did not think they could beat Martina N. or Steffi, so they went on the court expecting to lose. And that they did.

But then again, I have noticed since Kim and Justine have improved, they have become even more difficult to beat on court. And if those two continue the way they are when they are healthy, you can be sure the players will be gunning for them too.

At least in Justine's case, I think already players want a piece of her.

This is what makes women's tennis so much more exciting for me today. The players are trying to raise a level of play we have not seen in a long time.

In a time whe people are complaining that women's tennis is dead, I say he rest of the pack trying to challenge the best is outstanding for the game.

I've noticed the same pattern Foot_Fault. I think that those players think they'll lose regadless. So they just say "fuck it" and hit outrageous shots.

Thus the case with Karolina...she played AWSOME. I sent a question to Venus on her website yesterday, asking her....Why do she seemingly struggle against players she's NEVER played before, but players she's played she can dispatch of them with ease?

She hasn't responded, but I am anticipating the answer

The players have nothing to lose when they play Venus or Serena, they dont expect to win so they loosen up and go for their shots. Its not the same with other players as they seem beatable.

What are you trying to get with this question? I dont' understand?
So, it's stupid for players to try to take down a grand slam champion,
is that what your saying? I guess that makes everyone on tour
idiots for trying their hardest against the stars with huge reputations.

... is it really players deciding to "show up" and show out... Or is Venus/Serena enabling, assisting .. helping out.. not showing up..

They play Venus and Serena harder because getting a win over one of them gets a player more creditability and publicity than beating any other player on tour. In a way it's really more of a complement to the great players Venus and Serena are. It shows the value that the other players put on a win against a Williams. For some it's as good as winning a title.

They all read WTAWorld.com and are under the impression that V&S are the greatest things since sliced rye bread and actually try. The rest of the matches, for the over 1080+ players left on the rankings.... well, nobody even cares to try.
