Some amazing volleys and drop shots from both girls today. I really enjoyed the second set especially, we will see a lot of hot shot clips from tonight. There was an epic point where Aga hit two great lobs and Flipper hit a tweener. Both have lovely hand skills :yeah:
First SF for Aga since Stuttgart, pleased to see her build some form. Also she was clutch serving the match out there from 0-40
Really entertaining match, both couldn't hit eachother off the court so there was a lot of long and fun points. Flipkens was just hitting a few too mang errors at important points. Aga was good when it really mattered.
I fully expect an evisceration by Kvitova tommorow, but I'm happy with the couple of confidence boosting wins heading into the US open
Kirsten Flipkens @ FlipperKF
@ rennaestubbs belly was upset.. felt so swollen.. intolerant or something i think. Wrist hurts a bit due to that fall. Thx for asking
How, I ask you, is it humanly possible for anyone not to adore Aga?
If you look up "ornament to the game" in the dictionary, there is a picture of the elder Radwanska instead of any text. Playing the crouch shot, of course.
Queen showed up to reach her first semifinal in 84 years. I feel like Flipper is a more powerful version of Queen Robi and with more errors. It was so fun to stay up for this match. Our first serve is waiting for us in Tianjin at the moment though. Petra will send the magician back to Hogwarts but still a happy week that I did not have to go back to black early in the tournament :grin2::grin2:
Some of those rallies, especially in the second set, were incredible. The tweener was cool but there was another rally right after that I'd rank even higher quality. Aga won that one too and Flipper just put her hands on her hips and had this "what more can I do?" look.
Aga usually follows up these splendid performances with a complete shit show so I have literally no expectations against Petra. She has won 3 of the last 4 against her however so who knows.
