Mauresmo's Jynx!

For the second year in a row, Venus Williams has been injured before or in her final round match, where she has had to play Amelie Mauresmo. Venus, last year, was dissapointing at the French, only making it to the round of 16. She made a last hurrah at Wimbledon, battling a mentally distracted Serena to three sets. Will this injury spell the near-end of Venus' '04 season as it did to that season of '03. I for one think not! I think that Venus is one of the most resilliant fighters in professional sports! Some people think she'll be out up to six weeks! I DON'T THINK SO! She'll come back in time for the French and surpass the expectations of many, even herself. Venus is AWESOME! And this little 'spell' Mauresmo has over Venus won't hinder her from doing extremely well at the French in two weeks!

GO VEE!

Career Grand Slam in your 20s? Been there done that. Career golden slam your 30s?
There's only 1.
Serena.

No offense, but Lindsay has as much chance of winning the title as I do.

Depending on the extent of Venus' ankle injury, I predict she will play considering she was able to at least stand on the leg (even though she couldn't put too much pressure on it).

Has she ever been to the semifinal.

Of all the active Grand Slam winners, I think she is the only one who has not gotten to the final.

Lindsay did make it the semi's in 1998. Her road there:

128 W Kimberly PO (USA) 6-2 6-2
64 W Liezel HORN (RSA) 6-2 6-0
32 W Elena LIKHOVTSEVA (RUS) 7-5 7-5
16 W Sandrine TESTUD (FRA) 6-3 4-6 6-2
QF W Iva MAJOLI (CRO) 6-1 5-7 6-3
SF L Arantxa SANCHEZ-VICARIO (ESP) 3-6 6-7(5)

And, as most of us remember, that was the year that ASV managed to beat the resurgent Seles (who's father had just passed away) in the final.
