While the haters make excuses like...

saying that Venus didn't beat anyone big and say this is all hype let us congratulate Venus for a great job and let me be one of the first to say:

Sheeeeeeeee'ssss Back!

Precisely,

It is not Venus' fault that THEY (got beat) chose not to play in the tournaments that she beat everybody down in.

And also, Venus lost to this player (Svetlana) earlier in the year...and I'd have to admit beating the player who beat you on your best surface and then coming back and beating them on your worst is pretty damn good.

boy, Venus was really out of sorts earlier this year - wasn't she?

I take my hat off to her for her speedy turn-around.

"haters' is far to broad in this case. One could be a fan of Kuznetsova who otherwise thinks well of Venus and be making excuses.

Great job! It's not that Sveta isn't a great player. She definitely is one! But Venus just played great, I was really impressed as I've seen the match.

I'm really happy to see Venus back on form and hats off to her for two great back-to-back tournament performances.

At the same time the hypocrisy of some posters is amazing; when Venus and Serena were injured, people were saying that Justine and Kim were not the rightful #1 and #2 whereas they have changed their tune totally now the situation is reversed. Now, Venus is the dominant player, it's not her fault the others are injured, she beat all the opponents she faced etc, etc.

Fortunately, there are only a few real Williams haters on board, the rest are merly fans of other fine players.

But, I can see why the haters feel the way they do because the Williams fans have the best faves in tennis, heck, in all sports!

you are right about that Andy T..only difference for me here though is that Venus and Serena has a winning record over every one in the top ten...so I think that is why some people felt that way....

Congrats to venus on her 2nd title of the year, i think she has had as hard opponents as kim did when she won her tournaments, she didnt have to beat anyone of noticeable achievement-mainly cos they were injured or fell b4 they were due to meet aswel. I am glad Venus is back, all we need now is for the 2 belgians to be back at 100% (aswell as serena and jenn), i dont want to swap them around for the williams, i would prefer it if they all played together. As long as kim's arm and jenn's back hold up in berlin there should be good semi's and a great final .

The next big thing: Voegele
