At J&S Cup, Hantuchova (#45) def. player ranked ahead of her, Sancehez Lorenzo (#36) on that player's best surface. Plays Smashnova-Pistolesi (#20) next, which is rather a step up in class. AnnaSmash can play on red clay. Won Sopot last year and Vienna the year before, both Tier III's. In the last two years has also won Auckland, Canberra, Shanghai and Helsinki. Probably the smallest player on tour at 5'2", 117 lbs. Certainly the smallest good one.
On this surface, this match would have been a toss-up when Dani was a top five player. But if beating a higher ranked player in her last match is a sign of a resurgence, then Dani at least has a chance her.
