Conchita Martinez vs. Kim Clijsters: Who is GREATER?

I feel that this is an accurate and fairly reasonable comparison. What do you guys think?

Conchita. She has won Wimbledon.
Both never dominated, but doesn't Conchita have some awesome records.

Kim will surpass her, no doubt about that I think, but as of now, Conchi.

Don't even go there....Conchi has amassed over 700 victories...in fact she's got 3 or 4 since she reached the milestone 700 number!! Where or where is the comparison...?? Conchi is almost a "legend" ....Kim's got a sore wrist ....end of story!!

Got to be Conchita

Martinez has an amazing record - both grand slam and tour win record is impressive. Kim is only beginning so she may surpass it - but Conchita has an amazing staying power - her ability to stay on the tour for so long with such a brilliant standard of play is fantastic (not quite Martina N standard but gaining ground). I am not sure Kim will be able to do that.

The fruit series is suspended whilst Grachka (obatafan) mourns Saori's retirement.

Similarly Conchita has never been number 1. For sure, I think that Conchita is the greater player, but how does Conchita compare to say someone like Henin?

if you compare what Conchita had achieved by about age 25, you'd have to say that Kim should overtake Conchita's accomplishments if she can play for another 10 years at the top of the game. Kim needs to win a Slam "urgently" because she's approaching (some might say 'has already passed') her prime. If she doesn't win a Slam, then Kim will go down as an overranked MJF equivalent who didn't really deserve to be the number one.

The future looks grim for Kim. The Russians are getting stronger and stronger, and Justine, Serena and Venus are already too much for her to handle.

You have long been my goal, been my chasing, been my soul. I have hung out on the edge. But I just couldn't let go. There's a time to forgive. There's a time to forget. Close your eyes, get ready, set. Walk me down this fall I'm taking but don't let me go yet. Oh let me go, sweetheart, throw me, around you, like you know me. And remember me too. Remember me too from a dream i had of you. Mary Margaret O'Hara | Dream I Had | Apartment Hunting | 2002.

Conchi.

Wimbldon, 5 Fed Cups, an eternity in the top ten. And actually, Conchi is the better player right now, given Kim's long injury absence.

hate to say it, but being #1 is overrated. For one thing, every couple of years they change the ranking point system. For the first decade or so of the WTA, they didn't HAVE a ranking point system. (Writers voted, I think.)

Who's 'greater' Kim vs Mary Pierce might be a more valid comparison, except Mary has TWO GS singles titles.

Not blind. Not uninformed. We are party to atrocities. But the response of the world after 9/11 is worth noting. Even our most dire enemies offered aid. We should all be so lucky.

Right now, Conchi by far.

By the time Kim is done?? More debatable.

If they both retired right now Conchita will be always remembered by the real tennis fans and Clijsters will be be forgotten slower and slower...

Yeah.
