Smile Euro Tennis Directors Rip ATP for US Open Series

Hey Y'all,

I'll say! I was looking forward to this series - and hoping it would mean more TV coverage here in the States.

I have never - since 1996 & 97 seen such sparse tennis coverage here in the US.

I read that one article - and does anyone think this proposed series will garner some new fans?

What? The United States of America took unilateral action without discussing it with an international ruling body first? NOOOOO!!

Smile Missing Masters stars face cash cut

All,

I'll just say! ATP Tennis is getting serious. Can the WTA be far behind? Don't think so.

OK, give me a FUCKING break These european directors are PLAINLY jealous that they did not think this up for their grand slams. And this BS that they are "shocked" whatever.... this series has been in discussion and planning since last summer! And the ATP IS the governing body for men's tennis, they are the ones to make the decision.......

Why would you criticize something that is only going to help more people watch and be aware of tennis???

This was posted already btw it's just a bunch of crap and they felt the need to say something in retaliation, but it's not gonna harm the european fields for tournaments or anything like that

Well isn't all the good top tier players playing the North American tournaments anyway. Anyone who even plans on competing or contending for the US Open title would not be play a claycourt match in August.

"I told her, `You don't want to get into a hitting battle with Sharapova, because it would be uneven for Sharapova, because Sharapova only has one good side and that's her backhand,"'. "`You don't want to get into that for the simple reason you would win. So try to hit some balls to her strong side, to her backhand, and that would help you with your match for tomorrow

some players who enjoy playing on clay did it last year, but only ATP has European tournaments during summer hardcourt stretch I think (Coria for one entered those European tournaments, and I'm sure Ferrero and Moya did so as well) but the majority of the top players play in North America during the hardcourt swing
