Preparation for French Open

I was just looking at Notes and Netcords and here is the upcoming schedules for top 15:

Justine: Roland Garros (Could still take a wild card to tune up)
Kim: Berlin, Rome (depending on injury - but worried about French)
Amelie: Warsaw, Berlin, Rome (pending injury)
Lindsay: Strasbourg
Anastasia: Berlin, Rome
Nadia: Berlin, Rome
Serena: Rome (Smart. Tier 1. Don't push knee too much)
Jennifer: Berlin, Rome (Would like to see her play Warsaw to get match tough. Don't think stops and starts are helpful).

Elena: Berlin, Rome
Ai: Berlin, Rome & Strasbourg
Vera: Warsaw, Berlin, rome
Chanda: Berlin,Rome (Out on injury. Hopefully better)
Venus: Warsaw, Berlin (and then 2 weeks off. )
Svetlana: Warsaw, Berlin, rome
Paola: Warsaw, Berlin, rome

I don't ever remember a time in history when there have been so many injuries.

Obviously, this is going to make for a more interesting French Open. Not interesting in a good way, but I think people will be more interested in what will happen.

Really hoping that the players are healthy and can make the second Grand Slam exciting!

Lindsay's gonna be the highest seed at Strasbourg by a mile

Does she have a special connection with that tournament or is she playing it because she has a great chance of winning it?

That's right, whatever Monica will be seeded in Strasbourg is probably what we expect in French Open. But I think Lindsay is just trying to spoil Farina's fun

As of right now, Justine is not expected to play before French. I think if she feels better she might pick up last tune up (pure speculation), but apparently she has to really just take this time to rest.

Justine's health will really make it tough for hewr to defend her crown, coming into a GS with hardly any preparation on that surface. Some players do come into the AO with zero prep. on that surface like the williams and have dome well, the same two hardly play any grass tourys before wimby and have played well on it. I wonder if Justine's prep. will be a factor and she if could do like the williams do at the AO and Wimby.
The big prob I see for her is if both williams hit form by RG, then it will be difficult for her to get past them. With her game Justine could make the semis easily coz other contenders like Myskina are struggling with injuries of their own.

Rena- a tennis great! 22 at striking distance.

Myskina a contender?

Take care of your character. Reputation will sort itself.

One of the fantastic characteristics of both the Williams is to be top in slams, (that's why Venus' loss had surprised all of us so much) so "if" isn't really necessary imo.

Will the unjury bug EVER leave Chanda alone?

Why is Kim playing Fed Cup? Reports out of the tie indicate the wrist isn't 100%

The info running around the board about Justine's illness doesn't make a lot of sense to me, given her scheduling. I'm not getting into at she has. JH2 asked for privacy, so out of respect, I've deliberately avoided detailed info, but simple deduction makes some things obvious. She's got something physically debilitating but not (usually) fatal, judging by the timeframe and the prescription of 'two weeks rest'.

'Two weeks' nukes Fed cup and Warsaw.

I've had pneumonia and mono. Both weaken you massively. Anything debilitating would me she'd be very weak at the end of two of two weeks, even if healthy. I can see why she wouldn't schedule Berlin.

Strasbourg would mean three straight week of tennis in warm whether. Again, unwise after a tough illness.

But why not schedule BerlinRome? Everyone would understand if she had to pull out last minute. To me, not scheduling Berlin says they're going to have her rest for two weeks, then assess WHAT ELSE is necessary. As in they EXPECT something else to be necessary.

Proud to be an American
Not blind. Not uninformed. We are party to atrocities. But the response of the world after 9/11 is worth noting. Even our most dire enemies offered aid. We should all be so lucky.

Volcana - do you mean Rome in your last paragraph?

I think it would be good for Justine to play Rome, as long as she was completely fit by then - but I think that if she wants to play, she'll request a last-minute WC. (I think that by the time she had the illness diagnosed, the entry deadline to all these tournaments had passed.)

Other than that, I think everyone in the top 15 has got an excellent schedule lined up, which will maximise both ranking possibilities and health

As bad as Kim's injury may seem, I don't worry about her health at all. She has this tendency to suffer supposedly mega-serious injuries then play without any ill effects whatsoever

Yes... just off the top of my head, there were those supposedly "chronic" shoulder problems of 2002 (which excused all her losses to the likes of Clarisa Fernandez, Elena Likhovtseva, Tina Pisnik, Katarina Srebotnik, Anna Smashnova-Pistolesi etc) which, it was said, were sure to need surgery... she never had any surgery, and they seem to have disappeared. Then the "career-threatening" ankle injury in Australia this year which affected her for about half a week. And now this wrist thing, which didn't stop her creaming one of the best up-and-comers on tour the other day in straight sets

LOL. .. .you're right about all of these. I think it may be the media's fault though.
