Best player never to win a slam WTA/ATP

For years it was Goran and Jana, but they both finally won their first slams after the age of 30. How about now?

For WTA, I'd say Coetzer
For ATP... Henman?? (altho I hate his style of play)

ugh, why do they all suck????????

Mauresmo for WTA and Corretja for ATP
Retired: I 'm so sad Lori McNeil never won Wimbledon...(she maybe not the best but one of the best)

Conchita MARTINEZ-Mary PIERCE-Lindsay DAVENPORT-Martina HINGIS-Serena WILLIAMS- and new legend Monica PUIG
Kata Srebotnik - Anabel Medina-Garrigues - Arantxa Parra-Santonja
Garbiñe Muguruza- Caroline Garcia- Polona Hercog- Kimiko DK - Eleni Daniilidou ...

No idea about the ATP.

Good candidates for the WTA are Pam Shriver, Mary Joe Fernandez, and Helena Sukova. I would wait a couple years before I said that Kim Clijsters and Amelie Mauresmo deserve to be on that list - they do right now in terms of best current players to have never won a slam, but for all time, not yet

Lindsay Davenport - Anna Smashnova - Lisa Raymond - Sandrine Testud - Paola Suarez - Amelie Mauresmo - Virginia Ruano-Pascual - Nadia Petrova - Chanda Rubin - Cara Black - Tathiana Garbin - Anne Kremer - Monica Seles - Fabiola Zuluaga - Maria Sanchez-Lorenzo - Amanda Coetzer - Rita Grande - Meghann Shaughnessy - Magui Serna - Nathalie Dechy - Kim Clijsters - Elena Tatarkova - Maria Sharapova - Alicia Molik - Julia Vakulenko - Elena Likhovtseva - Anastasia Myskina - Emilie Loit

Probably Fernandez because she made 3 GS finals.

Of course, Kim Clijsters too, however in her case it's not over yet...

You're right . Plus, maybe Kim is better than Amelie and I hadn'yt thought of her.
Well, running out of time can be Coetzer or Rubin.

Ooo, sentimental favorite to never win a slam goes to Nathalie Tauziat

Lindsay Davenport - Anna Smashnova - Lisa Raymond - Sandrine Testud - Paola Suarez - Amelie Mauresmo - Virginia Ruano-Pascual - Nadia Petrova - Chanda Rubin - Cara Black - Tathiana Garbin - Anne Kremer - Monica Seles - Fabiola Zuluaga - Maria Sanchez-Lorenzo - Amanda Coetzer - Rita Grande - Meghann Shaughnessy - Magui Serna - Nathalie Dechy - Kim Clijsters - Elena Tatarkova - Maria Sharapova - Alicia Molik - Julia Vakulenko - Elena Likhovtseva - Anastasia Myskina - Emilie Loit

As for players still in their prime - Clijsters, Nalbandian, Coria, Mauresmo and Henman are obvious examples who could still win a Slam

I would loved to have seen Todd Martin win a Grand Slam. He just seems a really nice guy, but never quite made it. Wimbledon 1996 was a great chance but choked against MaliVai in the semis

Pam Shriver, Natasha Zvereva, Manuela Maleeva and Helena Sukova are all great players who never won a Slam either, not sure who the greatest it though.

MJF on WTA - she was top 5-10 for about 6 years and made many finals and SFs

Corretja on ATP - was good enough to win Roland Garros and join Bruguera, Moya, Costa and Ferrero.

You have long been my goal, been my chasing, been my soul. I have hung out on the edge. But I just couldn't let go. There's a time to forgive. There's a time to forget. Close your eyes, get ready, set. Walk me down this fall I'm taking but don't let me go yet. Oh let me go, sweetheart, throw me, around you, like you know me. And remember me too. Of the players I've seen I go for Mary Joe Fernandez - but that's only because I've only seen clips of Helena Sukova in singles, although I've seen her play doubles.

From what I understand from some of the BFTP forum members, she's a better choice.

I think if Zvereva would have worked harder off court, she could have won a singles slam too. Damn cursed 1998 Wimbledon.

Best woman player to never win a slam is Zvereva.

Best man players, tough one, but I'll go with Henman. I figured he would have a least one wimbledon by now.
