rude players offcourt

hi i was just wondering if anyones met any players who were rude offcourt. i have met a few players most being fairly welcoming and even those who didnt really fancy a chat at least had the curtosy to at least smile all apart from chanda rubin now im sorry to any rubin fans who i may offend but she is the rudest peson i have ever met in my life, and unfortunatly i wasnt the only person to notice and comment on this.so i was just wondering if any other people have noticed this not just with chanda but any players?

What was so rude about Chanda? She's one of the nicest most down to earth players on tour. SHe does tons of Charity work. I would be interested to hear your experience with her. Is it possible you met her on a bad day...

Hmm interesting! I saw Chanda at Eastbourne, 2002 I think, doing an autograph signing session; she was smiling at everyone and seemed really nice. At Wimbledon a week or so later, I was with a friend and we saw Chanda practising on an outside court as she had a match later that day. After a few minutes she and Benny Sims finished, came off court, walked along right in front of us, and we decided to wish Chanda 'good luck' for her match later. Literally she was inches from us, Benny was the other side of her and no-one else was around.... and she completely ignored us ; we were a bit shocked!! We'd stood back so as not to get in her way, we weren't taking a photo or asking for her autograph, we just wanted to wish her good luck for her match..... I know players don't have to speak to the public, but she just pretended we weren't there. Maybe we saw her on a 'bad day' too, (actually, it probably was, because she lost the match later that day..! ) Sad, 'cause I'd always liked her up until then....

chanda was rude to some of her fans at the uso last year from what i observed.
she was already knocked out of the singles (obviously) and she was done practicing with hantuchova when a couple of her fans called her name when she was going by.
and she snapped back "ain't got the time, and I don't wanna chat."
i was shocked, especially after hearing from everyone how nice she was and how much stuff she does for the betterment of the tour and stuff like that.
must have been a bad day

Well, I've met Chanda once, and she was very nice nice to me.

. . . .but you know what's funny? CHANDA has always been used for people who say, "I'm not racist because I don't like Venus and Serena. I like Chanda." What I've always felt and truly believed is that, given the opportunity, Chanda would show that she is much ornerier than either of the Sisters. . ..LOL!!!!!

My guess would be that Chanda, like the rest of us, has good days and bad - because I've also heard people who've met her say she was very kind and gracious. Same with Jen C and Venus, I"ve heard stories (from people I trust not to make shit up) of them being unnecessarily rude and unpleasant and I've heard stories about them being really patient and accomodating.

I'm sure even Amelie has been slightly less than perfect at least once.

I know that Kim will not be on this list. She's very very nice and kind to her fans.

yeah that's pretty much the story I heard from the fans in Charleston too about Chanda. What the lady said was that they saw her dressed up cause she was getting the player who makes the difference award. Well the lady said to her hey Chanda you are looking good or something and she said Chanda acted like they didn't even exist. Her husband is an autograph hound and he said she wasn't friendly when he went and got an autograph but he's pretty aggressive there's no telling when he was asking for an autograph.

Venus does not like to sign many autographs...no more than 4 in any one spot, I didn't see how many she signed outside the stadium.. Venus is over the autograph thing.

Serena signs a lot of autographs..and it's still not enough. After their Sunday practice session Serena signed and signed. She signed all the way back to the club house and finally she said no more. This one little kid bust out crying cause he didn't get one. His older brother had said he waited all day. Remember they were out there for over two hours by then. You felt so bad for the little boy but then again they would never get to live if they had to sign autographs all day and night.

im glad im not the only one then haha.lapin my story is fairly similar to yours saw her at a signing and apparently she was smiling etc with everyone then i saw her when noone was around and said hello wished her luck and that sort of thing she just looked at benny sims tutted gave me a filthy look and the pair of them walked off i couldnt believe me and my dad just looked at eachother gobsmacked especially seeing as i had heard she was meant to be a friendly decent person, but im sorry that to me is mannerless, other people at this tourniment also have said the same, oh well nevermind she just has one less fan, which is why i have turned my support to the ever so lovely polite and friendly laura granville

Well, of course not, but I don't want people thinking I'm biased

I've heard Nat Tauziat was, uh, unpredictable as well - a former Sanex Boardie said he wished her good luck (in French, even) when he saw her in New Haven and she sneered and rolled her eyes.
