MY FCC experience...

Well I just got back form the FCC, been in the car for a few hours and Im glad to be home... I had a great time, I really did. Definitley worth the trip. The facilites are great, such a nice location for a tournament. The people there were nice, they had lots of cool vendors and stuff there, definitley fun!

I went for the semis and the finals. The first semi we saw was Venus against Kostanic. The first set was really close, Kostanic has some game but of course just isnt at Venus' level. The points were pretty short in that match overall, Venus wasnt coming into net as much as I thought she would. The first set was tight, with some DF's on V's part, but she pulled it out. After the first set, Kostanic took amedical time out, which come to find out was for her hip. After she game out she seemed to be moving well to me, but what do I know... Venus had just stepped it up, was serving much better and was hitting some wicked angles. Of course she closed the set out 6-1. It was a decent match, Kostanic is definitley one to watch...

After that was the Patty Conchi match. And let me tell you did some of their games just go on and on and on. Not that I didnt expect that but sweet lord those two had some rallies. Now I'll be the first to admit, during the match I remember Conchi making some odd faces, and hearing Patty yell something (which come to find out was her yelling to a ball kid I WANT THAT BALL!)... I also remember her going to the ump and saying something, but until afterwards I didnt have a clue what was going on there.

Anyways back to the match. You could tell Patty's head was not in the match after I would say the first 3 games... but when they did get into rallies they were some fun ones. Honestly I hadnt seen Conchi play that much before and she has a good game still. My one pet peeve with her and yeah, she talkes pace off the ball well but she just doesnt hit hard enough. There were many points where if she would have just nailed a forehand corsscourt she would have ended the point, but she didnt. I just wish she would be more agressive sometimes... Ok and about that point at the net. Im sorry that was tooooo funny! You could tell Patty was trying to put that point away big time, and Conchi got it right back at her ass for a winner, and did a hug fist pump RIGHT in Pattys face (this is after all the BS Patty had been pulling.) So that was hilarious.... definitley a interesting match, Patty completley lost it in that match, and Conchi was playing so well she just couldnt afford to lose it... Good stuff.

And the lack of handshake? You know what Patty, the WTA doesnt revolve around you, if you dont like Conchi's superstitions or whatever. who cares. She's been playing the sport a hell of a lot longer than you and this is the first time I've personally heard anyone complain about it. Not only has she played long, but she's given a lot to the game. I think she was just pissed she didnt have her "a" game with her, so she acted out on Conchi. Whatever, the lack of handshake was just lame.

Finally the finals. The firts set Conchi was just feeling it, and you could tell. She was serving well (and what an odd motion she has BTW) and just hitting winners left and right. You could tell V wasnt warmed up yet, but she was getting there... the second set was closer than the score lets on. But at that point Venus had just turned it on.. Her serve was on, she was coming in to the net A LOT and getting the majority of those points. I mean its been said a hundered times, but she hits the ball HARD. And she does move like a gazelle, its crazy. Also, she was sliding well IMO, but I didnt think she was going to do all that well. She seemed comfy on the clay, and thats a good think for her French chances, for sure. I want to say she pulled like 6 games in a row till Conchi won one in the third.. That was about all she wrote though. But it wa sa fun final I have to say, defintley happy with it.

So there you go, my FCC experience. I took some pics with a non digital camera so they're going to suck but I'll put up the ones that dont, hahahaha. I did see Mary J and Pam, whoo hooo. And Pam's ass has gotten big, let me tell you.. I saw Richard and Serena as well, they were on a practice court today takeing pics with some people so that was cool...
And I met our own Rocketta! She's a sweetheart, we talked a bit during the tournament. Definitley cool to have met her!

Im off, bed it calling. Sorry for any typos, Im not going back and fixing them, hahahaha.

Come back EVENTUALLY Cappy!! Ok this clearly was written back in a day when I still had faith..

Chris#1 and Chris#2 were sweethearts. I meant to get over there and speak today but I was running late getting up to the 2nd tier and then y'all didn't stay for the doubles...

Oh and I'm glad you gave descriptions of the matches so now I don't have to.

I agree with the part about Venus warming up and Conchita playing very well in set 1. I also think Venus changed her gameplan or maybe started implementing her gameplan in set 2 and that was coming to the net and also incorporating more angles into her game. She also stopped missing that forehand return so much.

I have some cool shots of Mary Joe and Pam and yes Pammy is getting big and preggers but she's 40 something and a big boned woman so it's a little expected. They both dress way way way down for their job. I saw MJF and her daughter walking back to the clubhouse. Her daughter is adorable. Apparently she communicates with her in spanish mostly or at least she was when they were walking. It was adorable.

I think Venus was just nervous in the first set and Conchita was on fire. Then Venus got rid of the nerves and started to play her game in the second set. In the third set, Venus continued to play her game and Conchita ran out of gas.

Sounds like you had a good time, Mase

DeMond, I agree. Once Venus gets warmed up and is playing at 100 percent, there's no stopping her.

I just hope Conchita can increase her fitness/stamina level before Roland Garros...she's playing so well right now, and she has a chance to make some noise there.
