Martina tells Patty what she should have done

This is from Martina's press conference today:

Quote:
The thing with the ball, everybody is superstitious, but when it affects your opponent, that's not good. And frankly, if I was playing her and she was doing that, I would put that ball in my pocket, too. Or what I would do I would have another ball on me and I would take that ball and I'd hit the two balls back and say, okay, which one do you think you won the point with. Really confuse her.

And she wants to be a politician? With this immaturity, she would make a bad one.
I don't think she likes Martinez because she lost to her in '94 Wimbledon final. And she always had said that Conchita is lazy and that she would have rather lost to Zina than to Conchita.
In my opinion, she needs to keep her mouth shut.

If have to say that it would be hilarious if Martina did that.

I'm sure Conchita would probably laugh as well.

Obviously, she meant it as a joke...

She explained what she thought of the using-the-same-ball routine:

Quote:
And let's say you get new balls and she's serving with new balls and you play long rallies, she wins it. She gets that fluffy ball back and she keeps playing with the same ball, same ball, then you got five new balls again.

I always want to circulate so that every ball gets worn out the same. The ball doesn't know that it won the point for you. But it's her superstition, but if was I was playing her, you certainly can't let it bother you, and you'd say to the umpire, are you watching the clock, and that takes care of that. If she's playing within the clock, that's fair enough. If you don't want her to have that ball, put it in your pocket just like she did. So whatever. I mean we know she does it. She doesn't do it to annoy people. She's superstitious and does it every time.

The sooner she retires again the better!

SERENA WILLIAMS: I played her three times and twice we went to three sets, so it's definitely no easy way of playing Conchita Martinez, especially on clay. She's a clay court specialist, and you know, she's a Grand Slam champion. You can never take that lightly.... I think I had a very tough match my second round myself in this event because Conchita Martinez is a very good player, so that was definitely a tough match...

hahaahah that was funny...

i don't think martina would really do such a thing, but it doesn't sound good to hear her "suggest" such actions
