I like her 05 aus semi and us semi, not the greatest though, but saw the greatness in her through those two...she wasn't afraid at all back then...always thought she could win 10+ gs
Meldonium free Pova was a utter nightmare for Serena
And the VIP trainwreck in Cincinnati 2014 was the best she ever fought, but Ana could resist a tireless Pova late in that third set... This match was fantastic
I don't think she's been meldonium free since she was maybe 12 years old. Yuri had her juicing early.
I'd say the SF against Davenport at Wimbledon showed pretty spectacular stuff from Meldopova. Also her run at the 2008 Aussie Open--she was barely losing games and slaughtered Justine Henin inlove and Lena Dementyeva.
Probably her AO QF vs Henin in 2008. She was just perfect that day and stopped Henin's giant winning streak.
That truly was Maria at her best, she was hitting sublime volleys, slices, drop shots, lobs and the power was obviously there too.
:spit: @ people saying Cincinnati SF vs VIP. That was one of the biggest shitfests ever, she hit 28 winners and 61 UE And no, that is not the best she has ever fought
This was the one single tournament I thought Serena might be in trouble if she played her. I always wondered if she was sending a message to Serena J. Williams with that Henin match or if Serena may have gotten a bit spooked seeing how well Sharapova was playing. I remember when Serena played Jankovic, something was clearly wrong and she lost the match.
