So many entertaining points from both players. I've enjoyed it more than Aga - Vinci this year.
Strycova is crazy, but really smart on court. She'll have great grass court season. And I hope she will not be in Aga's section during Wimbledon.
saw only the third set and both played very well. Glad Aga recovered after lost tiebreak. Keep going
that miss from Strycova in the last game though :spit:
Challenging match for Aga from 6-2 3-0 up. She started making more errors and allowed her rival to believe in herself. Barbie was really on fire from that moment and it was enjoyable spectacle to watch.
In 3rd set Aga raised her level and this time didn't allow Barbora to came back.
I disagree with the title of this thread, by the way. It was a high quality match, especially tactically, and in terms of talent and consistency.
It was clearly Aga's best performance in this event so far. Only missed the right frame of mind on the tiebreaker... She has to think and move "forward" when it counts. Means, make the game. It's mental.
And mental is essential: Aga wouldn't have one set more in the legs at this stage if she could have closed in that tiebreaker. But I guess she's fit enough to deal with it.
Poor serving from Aga today, needs to improve it before R4. Everything else was kinda okayish. That slump in 2nd set though... Fourth round of RG, nice result already by Aga's standards, from now on everything else is a bonus.
Can't stand Aga, but good on her for conquering her "clay court demons" and marching into the second week of a slam like a top-ranked player should. Ridiculous how I feel compelled to applaud players for simply taking care of business.
