I think this will be a close three set match. Venus has looked good, and Cornet struggled with Maria today, but acting aside, I think Cornet will be fine, physically for the match.
Cornet can mix up the play well and I think will cause Venus to hit a lot of UE's.
Hopefully, Venus pulls through, but I think it will be a tight match.
If there is a god: Venus, with a scoreline similar to her 2R.
In all probability: Cornet in 3, with the aid of a wheelchair/crutches/a stretcher to get to her chair during changes of ends.

Cornet's loopers don't really trouble Venus, hence their brutal H2H with Cornet almost winning less games each times they've played, and is still yet to get 5 games in a set off of her.
This is a great opportunity for Venus. Making R4 in RG considering her results there in the last 5 years would be a big deal for her. I don't think she can lose this match.
Veesus is still injured and this is RG so I'm not really trusting that H2H too much. Still, she can't let the crowd get into her head because we all know they will try it. Reach that 4th round, sis.

I need this to be short and sweet. Even if Venus wins in some 3 hour shitfest she will be completely dead for doubles and her 4th round. I want her to win in straights or lose in straights.
I'd honestly have her lose singles and win the doubles vs losing in both because of her body. We need some positive motivation badly.
Really hard to say. There are a lot of factors going against Venus here... I would rather she conserve energy and avoid aggravating any injuries for the grass season anyway.
The outcome of this match doesn't depend in the slightest on Alize Cornet. If Venus wakes up that morning and her immune system says "today's going to be one of those bad days!", it doesn't matter if it's Alize Cornet across the net, 1988 Steffi Graf, or a well-trained gerbil, Venus is going to lose. If she wakes up and feels close to 100%, she should win in pretty routine fashion against any player not in the top 20, even one of the mental fortitude of Cornet.
(and I LIKE Cornet! But she did lose 6 of her last 8 matches coming into RG...)
Cornet is a fantastic matchup for Venus. One of the oddities of how a player can bother Serena (Cornet, Capriati) but do nothing to Venus. Venus wins in 2.
Henin was also a bad matchup to Serena but not so much to Venus.
It also work the other way around. Sharapova, Davenport and even JJ being a bad matchup to Venus but not so much to Serena.
Venus and Serena don't play the same way, here is the answer.
The "better" sister of Williams never lost against Alizé, never lost a set, never lost more than 7 games, the last three sets were 6-0, 6-1, 6-1
Match-up is a weird thing
