Sveta played well. But this could've been a lot closer than the score suggests. Not sure Hev really implemented her tactics very well and missed some good opportunities.
Good play from Sveta today, great movement, some great BH DTL winners and she also was aggressive enough today.
Her serve is still an issue, especially 2nd serve, she has to improve there but it was enough against Watson, Watson herself just does not have the weapons to annoy top players when they have a good day and she made too many UEs today as well.
Absolutely timid and brainless from Heather. She should by now be far more experienced and decisive and take risks, even if they don't pay off. Sveta was not at her best but was still undoubtedly the better player. A waste of time watching it really.
I had a small bet on Sveta at big odds pre tournament, but I don't know if she's got enough in the tank to go through to the final even with a kind draw. She's playing formidable tennis at times, but frequently looks knackered.
Heather played quite well in the second set, but it was too little, too late. I keep hearing how she has the ability to be top 20, is playing more aggressive tennis etc etc but all I see is a baseline grinder without any real weapons who's been hovering around the same ranking level for years. I just can't see her going much further up unless she gets an inspired coach and has a big makeover of her game.
Prediction: Naomi Broady will be British number two by the end of the summer.
