It's bad and sad because unarguably the two most successful players on the tour this year so far are out in R1. Lack of consistency at the top is never good.
These majors are all about Serena. If she doesnt win there are about 40 players with a chance.
It seems these one time slam winners are underdogs and under the radar, where the pressure is less
If Serena loses this major, winner could be in any section. Total free for all if she loses
I said in another thread, the Tour is Serena, needs Serena. I can't remember a time when one player was so needed and important - even more so than when Monica was off the Tour. Everyone then said the Tour was lacking, but it is a million times worse now. She is simply the only relevant professional female tennis player to anyone outside this Forum!
This actually isn't that bad compared to the past few Grand Slams. Very disappointing from Kerber though but then Kiki just won a title on clay and it's probably her best surface..so..would have been tough for Kerber.
It's really not that bad at all. Majority of the players that lost or are out were never serious contenders and or anything to be taken that seriously on clay.
Volcana get it the fuck together. You used to make really good threads. Don't give into the fuckery after all these years. I know it's hard believe me. But don't do it.
Not good but it could have been worse. The big problem is the lack of consistency in the top players. Having already lost three of the top 8 seeds, it would be no surprise if many others depart before the end of the first week. Garbine, Petra looked shaky and Halep is not consistent this year.
Posters have said 'it is all about Serena' but it shouldn't be. She is 34 - there should be someone waiting in the wings to take over from her if/when she retires. All the other greats had someone great to hand on to, but with Serena, there's no one. If it follows the last slams it will either be Serena winning, or one of the B team - Carla Suarez Navarro or Timea Bacsinszky this year?
as if ser andy clayray would lose in the first round of the clay slam, to radek no less.
the pussy dripping by some of you guys is almost hilarious.
Now the draw doesn't look as bad as it seemed. Things started to fall into places with most of the seeds are through to R32. I think this RG is quite decent. A bit boring though.
Clay vs hard-court?
Early season not-sharp vs mid-season sharp?
Of course, half the top ten has either lost or DNP, and two top five players who DID play are already gone.... but in nether case did we lose a player who was a dominant clay-courter.
