Don't write off Capriati

I am always so amazed at how people can turn so quickly on a player.

When someone has come off an injury, it is normal that the player is not going to blow away the field, (of course Serena is just the bomb - and kudos to her).

When Jennifer first attempted to re-join the game she struggled.
She was not as fit, and had some early losses.

She then continued to work hard and won 3 grand slams.
That was not a fluke. 1 grand slam maybe, but not 3.

If she were to leave the game today, she would still have much to be proud of. Nobody can take back all the victories and life lessons.

The thing that she has showed the world: Anything is possible. If you believe and are willing to do your part.

I hope she come back to clay and has some good results. If she doesn't - at least we will know she gave it her best. She has nothing left to prove, (except maybe to herself).

Nice post. (I can't + rep you because I have done it too often ) But I know I am not getting my undies in a bunch yet, Jenn has had some tough losses this year, but I have no doubt she will give it her all and at least go all out one more time. (*prays*) You have to remember that at the end of 1997, she finished her year off with 6 consecutive losses. Jennifer is still my favorite player (since 1999), and I am not going to just give up on her.

Go Anne Keothavong, Akgul Amanmuradova, Samantha Stosur, Na Li, Liga Dekmeijere, Tamarine Tanasugarn ,Jill Craybas, Daniela Hantuchova, Natalie Grandin, Kimiko Date-Krumm, Elena Baltacha, Melanie South, Dominika Cibulkova, Caroline Wozniacki, Jie Zheng, Andrea Petkovic, Elena Dementieva, Jelena Jankovic

i for one would be really pleased if jen could add a wimbledon or us open to her trophy case....deep down, i feel she deserves to be remembered as having one (or both!) of them.

She WANTS that open! Wimby sure that would be nice, but she'd like nothing more than to win the US Open. She's got it in her and I'll never write her off. Jen's come back from too much. And she'll come back again.

Yes Kudos to Serena Really. But Jenny can do it too. She can win, she can put racket to ball and slam it across that court.

Jen is sooo dangerous it's unreal

she is one of the most natural strikers of the ball and can do a lot of damage...she just has to work a lot harder than other players to comeback and play her best

you know, if Jen wins Wimby or the USO this year, i'd be as happy as anyone but if she left the game today, she's got a lot to be proud of

You can NEVER count Cappy down!!!! She has proven that she can comeback from the worst of situations and ascend to the top!!!! It will take her a couple of months to come back from her very, very serious injury (not everyone is Serena---BTW Serena is rockin' her comeback!!!!!!), but she will hit her form, probably by the French Open!!!

Capriati

Glad to see so many kind responses to my thread. I agree w/ all.
Also - Jennifer tasted how close she was to the US Open crown last year.
I honestly think that is keeping her very motivated.

She also likes being the underdog. Ranking is not a big deal to her.

I will also be THRILLED if she plays Fed Cup! There is one spot left on the team, and it will most likely go to her. Zina and Jennifer have a meeting to talk @ it, as Jennifer surprised everyone by anwering "Yes" to the Fed Cup call. Everyone thought she would say no b/c BJK is still part of the team.
She is showing that she is mature, and once again, continues to move through obstacles.

I see a perrenial moody bitch when I think of Jennifer. I'm really sorry for saying that, but I've tried to root for her. I actually give her props for overcoming all the pressure the tennis world put on her as the next Chris Evert. However, there comes a time when questioning call after call and cussing and just being rude has to stop. I saw her practicing in Charleston and she was all up in Stefano's face with her finger right on his face and just cussing up a storm. He should have slapped her because I surely would have!
