martina's serves at 47 were faster than milagros'.. not that it did her much good..

Martina's net play seems off. she came to net a lot but clearly it didn't work for her. well, clay is not grass...

looks like unforced errors for Martina made the difference in this game..

I think that shows you though how hard Martina has been working To still be able to hit serves at 100 mph at 47 is incredible. I giver her credit for still being competitive with people 20 years younger on her worst surface. People are giving her shit for coming back but if she can be competitive, then i don't see a problem with her playing

wow. That is amaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaazing ! Martina really should make a full-fledged comeback. Obviously, she could still be a top 50 player, at nearly 50 years old !!!!!

I am not surprised at Milagros's serve speed. Her arms are rake thin. Even at 47 Martina has a more powerful arm and upper body. I watched Milagros play Conchita at Wimbledon last year and it was not pretty. The match lasted nearly 3 hours, Conchita was literally hobbling around the court and still came back from 5-2 or 5-3 down in the third to win. Milagros did not even have the firepower to put the ball past an injured Conchita, but I guess playing a 47 year old who has only covered a singles court twice since 1994 was easier to outlast.

Obviously!

Because Top 50 players regularly lose to players ranked in the 90s!

LOL, it sounds like Martina really had a "worthy" opponent today. Everybody is trashing this girl, it does sound like she's in the Top 100 based on one tournament and is otherwise pretty crappy. I can't imagine the pressure of having to have played this match. It makes you feel sorry for this girl, but with her record this year, I guess the second round of a Tier II isn't so bad, no matter how you got there.

If the girl has "rake-like" arms I guess she doesn't return serves too good or doesn't even try to go for them. While I have mixed feelings about Martina, she did show some guts today going out there in singles and not getting beaten too badly. This player sounds pretty crappy by all accounts. Were the 5 aces in the first set, when the girl apparently was overwhelmed by the moment, or before Martina wilted due to age?

Sequera is not a crappy player...

She is tiny! She's barely 5 feet. I know she does not weigh a hundred pounds but people seem to forget that she was getting some of the biggest wins of her career last year when she broke a bone on court last year and was thought to be out for months but came back realitively soon. She's just getting back into form...It takes players a while to get their game strength back.

She was very powerful for her size. I saw her at Charleston last year. I'm not understanding this she's really weak. Her serve may be but her groundstrokes are definitely not. She is a very solid clay court player.

Sorry, but the way she's described, it sounds like she's not too hard to beat. I'm going to PM you about Charleston.
