Question Why Is Martina Making A Comeback In Singles At This Point In Her Life?

She is going to be 48 years od this yera and really cannot keep up with the younger players. I might be wrong, but I think this an attempt to qualify for the Olympics as she was not able to play in her era as tennis wasn't an Olympic sport them. If so, I don't see her playing singles unless Venus' ranking is so low that Zina won't pick her to play singles.

I think she's just making the most of the opportunities put before her, so that she ends up having no regrets in what is some long, luxurious and very healthy career.

hahahahahahahahahahaha! Navratilova will NEVER be chosen for Olympic singles, EVER. She wants some old glory back and is trying to help her doubles.

No offense, then she should play on the seniors circut, if there is one for the women.

She can play wherever she wants. 18 GS=pass to do whatever you want with your career.

She just loves to play and compete, and she knows she can compete with top 50 players, like she showed at Eastbourne last year, so why the hell not?

A. She likes playing.

B. She has an eye for the records book and this is a good one to have.

And beat Panova, who was ranked #21 at the time.

Not blind. Not uninformed. We are party to atrocities. But the response of the world after 9/11 is worth noting. Even our most dire enemies offered aid. We should all be so lucky.

Actually, she's BETTER than most of the younger players, even now, and THAT'S part of why she's doing it. Nav, playing 15 events a year, would be a top hundred player easily, even now. That makes her better than 90% of the tour! If you're still in the top 10% of your sport, do you NEED to be retired?

Of course not. Not with Venus, Serena, Lindsay, Chanda, Lisa Raymond and Jenn (if she's eligible) available to play. If she REALLY was motivated toplay inthe Olympics, she'd focus on doubles, where with the right partner, she could rack enough wins to actually make the team on merit.
