Vika has made far too many times a fool of herself by playing injured, scrapping horrible ugly wins or losing to worse players and then immediately having to take long periods off the court to recover. Today Cornet was useless, mainly because she's coming back from injuries herself. All she had to do was move the ball around, but she was abysmal. Any other player left in the draw (including a vintage Cornet) would have beaten Vika today. If Vika is indeed injured this win is meaningless.
Yup that was something... Cornet could't rally with an injured Azarenka, who isn't a great mover when she is healthy to begin with.
Vika started to do some ball bashing in the second set. Some nice striking to keep the points shorts. Funny enough she wasn't attempting to reach many balls sideways, but insisted in chasing drop shots that were so far from her reach.
I don't think she will play next round... At least her R3 points were defended
it def looked like lower back/left leg problems, i wonder how she got that. against robson she looked pretty normal in her movement, though she wasn't uber eager to try running down every fast ball.
we'll see how and if she could recover for her next match.
Comfortable win for Vika but she was playing way below her usual level. She didnt look injured to me,though...she just wasnt enjoying herself out there today, maybe that are early signs of burnt out.
She looked pretty grumpy against Laura yesterday too. Anyway, I hope she isn't injured but if she is she should withdraw and make sure she's fir for the FO.
