This sounds crazy even for me as a huge fan of Sori:spit::spit:

The Romanians and Ion will be disappointed with the outcome.

..... hope you will be banned ;)

And Cirstea is like 29-7 this year so that s what she did and she will finish this season in top50, just bcoz she s a beauty she has no many haters:angel:

And btw Tiriac dont like Romanian tennis that much, or at least this is what his comments on Romanian press say:p

And why did Copil receive a wild card in Madrid ?
And why Robson plays every Mandatory and Watson too ?
And why Ymer receives all those wild cards ? And the Zverev brothers ? And Rublev recieves wild cards ?
And why Edmund ? And Maia Haddad ? and Gibert ? And Nicolas Jarry ?
This has nothing to do with great Ion.
Without Ion Boris never wins Wimbledon with 17 years and Ion was a great player too.
But how many dollars a tournament director receives for such a wild card from the players' manager ?
Same reason as Cirstea. He is Romanian.

At least, Cirstea was once a top 20-30 player and reached the final of a big tournament.

Copil getting a WC to Madrid was kind of a travesty.

Crappy players should get wc to 250s of their home tournaments, but a WC to a 1000 and not even from that country. No.

My point was that it's smart nepotism, so even when nothing good comes out of the WC, he can shrug and point to something justifiable and say 'felt it was worth a shot.' For the record, I thought Alex Dulgheru earned her WC that year, even if she started falling apart physically and couldn't take full advantage.

Should have been Empress vs her protege :sobbing:

I've never seen someone get infatuated about the fact that CiCi Bellis always get WC in Miami or Standford every year without being a constant professional tennis player, but suddenly everybody loses their minds when Tiriac gives every year ONE WC for a romanian player in need...

True.

Tennis is full of journey-scrubs getting free meals at many main draw tournaments every week and month and year. Some of these players have even gone as far as changing citizenships and acquiring green cards just in order to have regular easy access to wildcards at important tournaments.

So anyone who objects to Sorana while having no problem with the widlcard system itself is a poop-crap hypocrite.

Here is an integrity exposer: Do you agree that Tiriac has the right to give wildcard to whomever he wants? Or you don't agree and you believe that right should be taken away from organizers and some sort of qualification should apply to all WCs? It's either one or the other - yes or no.

Anyway I'm not even interested in this - the funny news for me is the original topic: that Sorana and Danka have a night session center court gig.

We already have Q matches to get into MD, don't see the point in having another Q matches to get a WC ( I might be wrong here but I think ATP Bucharest, since we have Tiriac in the sentience, did had a pre-tournament competition for juniors, and the winner got an WC into Q, but that's another subject since we're referring to juniors only )

On your question, I believe "organizers" should have that privilege to give WC to whom ever they consider. We have to take in consideration that those WC's usually go to someone who lacks the standard qualification criteria or didn't had time?!?! to apply for a place in the tournament.

Are you all gay or what? (not meant to be an insult, just wondering why so many are questioning Tiriac's selection)

If I owned a tournament, every wildcard would go to hot players like Sorana or Alize Lim. Cirstea isn't such a bad player after all, if anyone actually cares about that.

FYI, as some have already mentioned, but Madrid/Spain in general has a pretty sizeable population of Romanians. When I was at the tournament Saturday-Monday, Patricia Tig's matches drew more crowds than a lot of players in qualies. Her matches against Kasatkina and Sakkari had a lot of fans out there cheering vocally, a few with Romanian flags, etc.

I didn't watch it, but I was on an adjacent court while JJ and Sori were playing and it sounded like there was a lot of people

You know that Atletico played tonight? Spania is paralyzed when this kind of matches are played. Plus the match started at 11 Pm.
