Following Serena's record-breaking deal with Nike and timed to coincide with the U.S. Open, HOW TO PLAY TENNIS by Venus and Serena Williams will offer instruction and inspiration from tennis' most popular female competitors. A hardcover book for readers ages 8 and up, HOW TO PLAY TENNIS will include personal anecdotes and advice from the sisters and feature more than 700 specially commissioned action photographs. In HOW TO PLAY TENNIS, readers will learn how Venus and Serena warm up for a match, serving techniques, basic skills, tennis etiquette, match tactics, and much more. Throughout, the sisters' words of advice and encouragement are perfect for young people who strive to be world tennis champions.
Christopher Davis, DK's Publisher, said, "We are thrilled to be working with the Williams sisters on this book. Young tennis players everywhere can feel inspired by the Williams' own story of rising from playing in a public park to become Wimbledon champions. Now we hope that by passing on their practical tips in HOW TO PLAY TENNIS, we can help set a new generation of players on the path to glory."
Venus and Serena Williams commented, "We hope that publishing this book with DK will draw even more young players to the sport of tennis -- especially those who may not have access to professional coaching or private courts. Tennis is an exciting and fun game to play, and by following the techniques in this book, young players will develop their skills on the court and maybe learn to be role models off the court, too."
