For Karolina's fans (and for her delighted haters): I've just learned that before the match she had to take a pill for headache.
With this being a professional sport where little things like a bit slower movement or reactions can lead to big consequences or even affect the eventual outcome of a match, I'm excusing Karolina for today's lacklustre performance and already looking to the next match
Love that one handed BH! Getting little flashes of Hingis there from the back. Wow, really hope she can come through tomorrow. Can definitely see Vika getting into at least the top 50.
EDIT: Czech captain Pala just revealed that Karolina sligtly twisted her ankle during training and played the match with both her ankles taped (as a precaution). That might somewhat explain her subpar movement, even slower than usual. Against a well-moving player like Golubic this proved costly
Miserable year so far for KarPlis, and now shocked by Golubic. The stats for KarPlis, the UEs, in particular, were miserable, except for 18 aces. GET IT TOGETHER, Karolina!
she's like a ballerina. Her single hander is a nice balance of elegant slice and harder topspin shots and has really good court craft. A neat chip return as well, not used very often on WTA. No wonder a one dimensional player like Pliskova had trouble with her. Would be nice to see her come out indeed.
