Now that Sharapova wont be playing this year at the RG,I think that Simona is the strong favorite here.Lets face it,Maria was the only one sanding in Simonas way towards the RG title. If it hadnt been for Maria,Simona would have been the champion in 2014.On seeing that her main obstacle is out she might gain confidence and grab this very important chance.

I voted for the first option.Ive been a huge Simona fan for years and I think that her time has finally come. With Sharapova out and Serenas form declining she will take advantage of the weak draw and vulture her way to the title.

Unfortunately for Simona, she still appears to have a lot obstacles, including whatever goes on between the ears. Going on recent history, being tagged as the favourite would not sit well with her.

There are plenty of other players still standing in her way anyway, from Serena on down.

but if she is in top form only Serena can beat her and I think RG is the right time for her to peak .She is a natural clay courter so she stan a chance against Serena. Especially, if they meet in the final as Serena is extremely tense in GS finals these days.

Hm, I think the pressure of being a favourite took its toll on Halep. Zheng and Lucic losses were hard to handle it seems.

2014 was a great year to win her 1st GS... now it's different and I think it's unlikely during this year (I'm not a hater)... but I think she'll have another chance later in her career.

At this point no, but she could definitely be in great form by then. She just needs a few good tournaments in a row, lacking confidence right now.

A surprise winner? Maybe on of the French players will surprise, Garcia vs Kiki final would be amazing, Errani, Vinci? Sloane? 0:)

No, Serena is. Serena always will be. Don't you see? Halep is playing against a Living Legend. Serena could face seven rage fueled Meldonpova's in a row and she'd still eviscerate them all.

These threads FUEL Serena better than Sharapova ever could with Meldonium and that is why, still, like dust, she rises.

Next!

Errani is the player to beat! If they tested for this PED in 2012, she's already the Champion.

Considering the clay field at the moment, with or without Maria, if Simona is committed to playing brave, purposeful tennis, she should be good enough to win Roland Garros. That was how Kerber won Australia. I think Simona can do the same. Whether she will is another thing entirely — she's been chicken shit in most of her big matches from the last 18 months. I see no reason to believe that she'll be doing a 180 in Paris.
