Over the years WTA have tried to promote many upcoming starlets based on god-knows-what factors. Most of those campaigns failed because the players they picked simply don't have it. Look at Bouchard, Muguruza, etc., and you know what I mean.
My memo to WTA's PR people: If you are so shallow as to only know to promote players based on their look, at least pick someone who is truly magnetic like Kristyna Pliskova.
I agree with the OP in small sense, the whole 'identical tennis playing twins' thing is a bit of novelty. Definitely don't agree that Garbine 'doesn't have it' however.

Perhaps they should promote Karolina first  Although I do agree that if she becomes mildly relevant that the "twin campaign" could be very effective. Particularly if they start playing Doubles again.
My favourite thing every time Karo gets interviewed is when someone mentions Kris, and she gets really passionate about how everyone should know who she is and how good she is  It was so cute at Hopman Cup when she was like "you should all know who my sister is, she is a great player"

She's absolutely sure it's only a matter of time when Kris joins her as a top player and they'll be playing lots of doubles together. I actually agree BTW
This was stated by her a few days ago for the February issue of the Czech Railways magazine.
Yes, Karolina is now really that popular in her country and her face is now in trains and at station kiosks across the country.
Sorry for the horrible quality. Pic taken this Tuesday during a train ride between Prague and Vienna with my ancient Samsung phone

It's quite funny how everyone always slams the WTA for hyping players and promoting their looks and five minutes later people ask "Why isn't player XY promoted more?"
I am not going to dispute Kristyna's look. I won't dispute Garbine's or Eugenie's either. It is just matter of individual taste. Encouraging WTA to promote a player purely on looks is ... well I don't want to insult OP. This thread is going to turn into another discussion of beauty based on personal likings. We have sooo many of those. No need of another one.
 So . . pick someone you think has the goods. Okay. Gotcha.
Anyway, it's easy to look very good in a high-end shoot with tons of Photoshopping. I happen to find the Plis and Plis fetching but I wouldn't use that photo as an example.
Also, it's kinda silly to start a thread just to comment on a photo that's got you all revved up.

If I'm looking at Bouchard and Muguruza, then 'god-knows-what factors' would be on-court results. Bouchard may have since crashed and burned, but promoting her based on her 2014 on courts results is completely understandable. The pushed Sloane Stephens based on her 2013 on-courts, and had a similar result. But Muguruza is currently a top five player.
But no, you figure they should market some soon-to-be-24 year old player who's never won a tournament, never ending the year ranked in the top hundred, with a career high ranking of #86. Really? Like that's not a waste of money?
If you're spend money hyping a Pliskova, spend it on the one who can play.
