The Williams Revolution: Putting the body first

Does anyone think that the Williams sisters have introduced a new way of dealing with injuries?

Before, top players would always play full schedules (often injured). Since Venus and Serena have started to play less events (looking at the 'long term' effects of play on their bodies) other (top) players have started to do the same (JennCap,Justine,Amelie). I have also noticed that players are less willing to play through injury ect. as Graf was known to do in the past.

Not at all.. I don't think the other players playing less or dealing with injuries is at all related to Serena and venus taking six months off for their injuries.. They were doing other things, the other players heal and are right back.

"On the coin toss Martina said, "Do you want me to break your serve first or hold?" The umpire looked shocked. But we just both cracked up."
Lindsay Davenport, on a match she played with Martina Hingis.

Elena Dementieva
Justine Henin
Jennifer Capriati
Lindsay Davenport
Daniela Hantuchova
Kim Clijsters
Chanda Rubin

Oh please...Lindsay and Chanda were out for six months or more when they had their surgeries. Please don't invent stories.

The players that came before Serena and Venus had no lives outside of tennis!!
venus and Serena were taught that a player can have a tennis career and still not lose their childhood or lives in the process. I for one am happy that Serena and Venus have lives outside of tennis, otherwise they'll end up like Martina N. and a lot of the former players who are trying to make comebacks or commentating because they never developed other skills that can be used after their tennis career is over!
Even if some player realized that Serena and Venus's decision to not play with an injury and giving themselves enough time to heal completely is a smart decision that will add longevity to their careers, none of them will ever admit it because of their resentment towards Serena and Venus. It's sad really!!

All the same, even with V & S "doing other things" they still have done pretty well for themselves. Something obviously works.

the same people who hate Venus and Serena for pulling out with minor injuries will be worshipping the future players who will realize that isnt worth playing through injury

Actually I'm proud of the accomplishments of Venus and Serena, of which there are plenty.
