Is Melanie Molitor still coaching Casanova?

I was wondering because I was kinda expecting some great results from this youngster and haven't seen much. I know a coach can't make the player play great, but I thought with someone of Mel's caliber that Casanova would come out much stronger and with some kick ass court tatics.

What is up with her?

i don't think she is still working with her as a coach. myriam supposedly has a thyriod problem which inhibits her ability to lose weight. i can't say whether this is valid or not but i have heard a lot of things about extreme diets etc. apparently molitor did not feel she could help her because of the condition she was in.

myriam has had some great wins for a player carrying so much extra weight and has been extremely unlucky this year, losing many tight matches to players who have gone on further in the draw. her start on tour was so impressive beating molik in fed cup, then making the final of budapest in her first tournament, 3rd round of wimbledon, won brussels in only her second tournament and beat henin hardenne in germany. the difference then was that although she carried weight she was just chubby and her game wasn't really affected, whereas now she is just too big and she lacks a bit confidence. she had a series of awful first round draws last year as well where from the australian open to wimbledon she played mostly first rounds against henin-hardenne (two tight sets), serena, clijsters, mauresmo, dokic (losing 5-7,6-7(12), zvonareva (losing in three), seles (losing in three) and capriati. so she had like half a season where she basically got no points.

she has been given a big chance here as a lucky loser into the second round and she needs to take advantage.

myriam is SO talented esp with that a la Hingis backhand. she was absolutely amazing when i saw her playing granville last year at New Haven, winners left and right. only if she could lose some weight and get consistent.

Isn't there anything Myriam can do medically to rectify the Thyroid problem? Medication, perhaps? She may need to visit a Metabolism Centre for advice on a suitable diet for her condition. Isn't the Metabolism Centre a Swiss-originated medical programme designed to help people who experience difficulty losing weight?

I heard whispers that while in Australia, Martina Hingis attempted negotiations with Roger Federer to employ Melanie as his coach. No word on whether he liked the idea. I find it hard to picture that happening but I suppose anything is possible these days.

I read in the Hingis thread that Melanie opened a tennis academy in Switzerland.

It could def be an underactive thyroid gland which would practically make losing weight impossible - and if serious enough would mean that she would have to be on medication for life (which would not actually be as big a deal as it sounds)

at one point she played too many high tiers and lost too many matches, otherwise had she been more consistently building her rankings, i'm sure she would be in the 50's now, anyways, she does have the talents, however, she has to overcome this problem she has, there are players with no speed, she just has to live with it

I read that Melanie dumped her because She doesn't like to work hard.

Now Melanie Molitor is coaching Roman Valent a swiss tennis player who was coached by Martina former hitting Partner. Valent was a former #1 player in Junior and Wimbledon Junior Champion but He didn't get to the top players after he got professional.
It happens all the time a great junior player but on profetional not too god enough.
