We've had Steffi and the seven drarfs...now we have

in the abscence of Venus and Serena, Hingis.

justine and the mental midgets

"Hatred is the coward's revenge for being intimidated" - George Bernard Shaw

"And for the best of the teen-agers who followed her, and who occasionally referred to her as over the hill, Graf had a ready answer: against top-ranked Martina Hingis, Graf wound up 7-2. Graf's stirring 4-6, 7-5, 6-2 throttling of Hingis at the French Open final this June was perhaps the most emphatic parting shot the game has ever seen. "

Mauresmo's no midget; she just keeps getting injured ....just as she was coming into her own this year too. Loved watching her play mixed w/Santoro at Hopman Cup though.

Did you consider Seles a dwarf too

I thought it was Justine and Bananarama (Kim, LD, and Amelie).

They're too busy screwing up lip singing to "VENUS" instead of
minding their matches against JHH*.

Just type JHH. Easier on both of us.

Martina Navratilova referred to the WTA Tour as "Steffi and the seven dwarfs" since Monica was inactive due to the stabbing, Jennifer was getting arrested for petty theft and narcotics, Gaby was in a slump and there was no one around. The WTA was at its weakest.

FUCK YOU, SEWTA.

Which is disrespectful to the players that were on the tour at the time. We had some very good years with lots of contenders and styles of play. Martina says so many things, she has to put her foot out of her mouth every now and then.

I agree. Very disrespectful. Aranxta was probably at her best (screw the rankings, she was the best player in 1994), Conchita won a Slam and Steffi was right up there. Gaby did win the Masters in 1994. Pierce and Novotna were right up there.

But people even complain about 1997, when we had Martina H, Novotna, Mary P, Iva at her best, Monica, Aranxta, Conchita, Spirlea along with Venus and Anna K coming up.

There's just no point in arguing with them.

FUCK YOU, SEWTA.

Nav made this comment in Tokio 94 and at point it was Steffi and the seven dwarfs. (she beat the number 2 6:0 6:2 in a slam final afterall)
Then it changed again for a while, till steffi was forced to take a injury timeout and motivated herself again and so continued were she left of in key biscane 94!

It's still a dumb comment though because if monica had played
it might have been monica and the seven dwarfs too while before it was monica and the mental stubborns

In the middle of the night
I go walking in my sleep
Through the desert of the truth
To the river so deep
We all end in the ocean
We all start in the streams
We're all carried along
By the river of dreams
In the middle of the night

About the seven dwarfs - in 1993 and the beginning of 1994 it wad pretty much true - but Steffi didn't win a Slam for more than a year between AO '94 and RG '95. Many people forget that. Also, one of the best matches ever happened at that time, Wimbledon final '95.

Dwarf, Dwarves...

There is nothing more beautiful than Evonne Goolagong in full flight moving across a tennis court.
