Who´ll win??

I rhink Lindsay is thw favourite, but Maggie won the doubles sf against her. It´s gonna be a tough match, i think Lindsay in 3.

lindsay to take her 39th career title!!!! :)

nearing the record of hingis's 40 titles.......................

lindsay in tough straight sets....

maggie wont have enough sheer firepower to beat lindsay again... esp at the rate lindsay has been playing all week... losing only 8 games!

Maggie in 3 lop-sided sets.

It could definitely be close, especially if Lindsay decides to choke. She really should be over her final problems by now, but you never know with her. And anyway, Maggie is good enough to beat her if she has a really "on" day. I'm nervous for this one.

The match is starting in about 45 min. On paper Lindsay will win comfortably. But I have a feeling that it could be very close. Lindsay's easy path to the final may backfire after all if Maggie puts up a good fight and manages to push Lindsay. Lindsay has never been in a tight situation throught the tornament (well, neither has been Maggie...but..), so once she gets in trouble, she may not be able to pull herself out of it well. She's not exactly a mentally strong player and has a tendency to choke when it matters most. I don't think she has won many close matches since she came back from the leg? injury two years ago. If Maggie fails to keep up with Lindsay in the first few games of the match, it will be another demolishion from Lindsay. Maggie needs to play as aggressive as she can and better not let Lindsay dictate too many points. Maggie has a variety of shots in her arsenal. She gotta make smart use of them and make sure Linday is always out of her comfort zone. Maggie seems to have been playing as well as she's really capable of, so if she can keep up the form, we may see a great final here. I think after having seen so many lopsided matches from Lindsay, the crowd will go for Maggie. I really wanna see her follow in her big sis's footsteps (Manuela won the event for the first two years). Personally I would rather she had played and won yesterday. I dunno taking a day rest will do her any good.. She could have carried the momentum from the first round into the semis and finals.. She might have some let down here. That said, I go with Maggie in two close sets.

There's no way Maleeva will win in straight sets, enough about that?

Anyway, are you going to be watching the match live? And don't you think the crowd will be rooting for Lindsay: defending champion, 3-time winner and now her 6th appearance in the finals? Yeah, I think Lindsay will be the crowd-favorite.

Sorry but Davenport isn't that popular here. Plu she has beaten too many crowd favorite players (Dokic, Daniela and Ai in doubles). Her game is so dominant and the Japanese people tend to cheer for more vulnerble players and this time it's Maggie. Plus her eldest sister, Manuela was sooooooooo popular here and there are still many Maggie fans who became her fans because of her sis. I'm sure Maggie is the crowd favorite. Having won here three times at the expense of crowd favorite players likc Hingis, Anna K, it didn't help Lindsay with her popularity here.

I'm sorry, I find it hard to believe that someone who has done so well at a tournament is not popular with the crowd; I can understand the whole idea of rooting for the underdog, but not liking a player because they beat your favorites is a stupid reason (and since when are Daniela and Jelena so huge in Japan?!). At any rate, being the favorite will not help Maggie in this match.

Daniela, Maria and Jelena are famous here now because the media hyped them because of their looks. No offense to Lindsay but a lot of fans become fans of certain players because of their looks and a lot of Japanese ppl like cute blondies. In fact the Daniela/Maria match has gotten the most press and been talked about most this week.

I don't see why Japanese media would do something stupid like that; sorry but good looks aren't going to get you anything (ahem, Kournikova...)
