From her facebook page:

Let me tell you a little bit about 2015.

Of the 29 tournaments I competed in this year, I lost 15 first rounds.

I got into an event as a lucky loser for the first time in my career, and I lost 0 and 0.

My ranking dropped from a career high 84 in February to 154 by August.

At one point, I had lost a career worst 6 matches in a row.

I lost to 11 lower ranked players.

I reached three finals, and I lost in all three.

I played for a World Team Tennis team, and I was replaced by a better player for the end of the season and playoffs.

I played a match where I led 6-1 5-3 40-0 serving, and I lost.

My end-of-the-year record was one win shy of .500 at 29:30. At one stage in my season, my record was 11:24.

I cried and swore I would quit tennis at least 20 times.

I worked with 4 different coaches and played with 2 different racquets.

I broke at least 8 of those racquets. Sorry, Wilson...

After the US Open, I returned to the challengers to rediscover some form, and I did regain confidence. I collected a lot of wins and some substantial points that will allow me to climb to a year end ranking of 109 or so.

This ranking will likely see me miss the Australian Open cut by just a few spots.

"Ever tried? Ever failed? No matter. Try again. Fail again. Fail better."

With absolutely no irony intended, I cannot wait to start my 2016 campaign. Onwards and upwards. ‪#‎striveforgreatness‬ ‪#‎allworthit‬

Wow, she seems to be really cool :)

A real insight into what it is like to be a 'journey woman' on tour. No glamour, just hard work.

I like her. She seems like a smart girl based off her tweets and interviews.
I mean, she is an Economics graduate from Stanford University. The same year she graduated (as a 21 yo) she reached the top 100 WTA for the first time. A talented person both on and off court.

She did pull a pretty amazing turnaround, I remember looking at her history after Wimbledon and seeing the points she had to defend and thinking for sure she would be out of top200 and she's actually closer to top100.

Pretty good considering she will have very few points to defend until Wimbledon :)

She's got a great head on her shoulders. From what I've encountered of her, she seems like a sweet girl, very courteous to all the fans who recognize her and VERY dedicated to improving. She ended the year on a strong note, hoping she can carry that momentum into 2016. Keep at it, Nicole :yeah:

Btw, I get she is not the next world beater, but I wouldn't associate an econ grad from Stanford as a student-athlete and top 100 player as "mediocre." But to each their own ;)

Loss to Pegula in Quebec City. TRAGIC  Pegula was missing EVERYTHING yet even being 3 MPs down still found a way to turn that match around :tears:

Gibbsy :inlove: :inlove:

I love love love this girl. Went to college, graduated, and then hit the tour. I met her and Lauren Davis and a few other girls last November and she is SOOOOOOOOO cute :hearts: And I think she likes me

Too bad she is with that surfer dude or whatever. Girl, when you ready for the real thing, get at me

Oh shush, she is not a random, she has something very few girls on tour have.

An education. Yes, she went to school.

gotta admire her tenacity, that's why. there's a user on mentennisforum, (Johnny Groove - check him out) he's not even ranked inside the #2000 but has more followers and fans than many players ranked inside the #500. same fighting spirit, that's what we love.
That's what I'm talking about. Life is here, why not dedicate it to your passion?

That's a very open and honest assessment of her year, the struggle is indeed real, but that's the attitude you have to have to succeed. She may never make top ten, but at least she's fighting for her dreams instead of giving up.

She appears to be very bright.

I think she had a bit of 'sophomore slump' this season, but indications are she may not be a WTA level type player. Many players get to the top 100, then, when they play mostly WTA level matches, they lose a lot and the ranking plummemts. Some make it back to their high ranking, others never do.

2016 should tell us if Gibbs has what it takes to make it at the WTA level.
