Odds of Lisa Raymond beating Venus in AO 3rd rnd: 1 in 250,000

Raymond is not one of those "dangerous floaters" who challenges the top players.

This surface is too slow for Lisa to really challenge Venus and she wont beat Venus from the baseline.

People are acting like Venus is in bad-shape. Shes winning her service-games pretty comfortable....now it is just matter to stepping it up on the return.

Always bet on black!

Barna would have had a much better chance. Venus is going to smoke Raymond.

Barna would have gotten burned down too.

Even if Venus isn't "on", Raymond is still gone.

1 in 250,000? Bullshit.. Any player can have a very bad day, fever, broken leg, heart attack, anything , and odds of that are much greater than that. I'd say, Lisa has 5-10% of a chance to get to R16.

I'd put a couple bucks on those odds.

Venus has played well, and is in good shape... but her stomach muscle injury is a re-occuring injury, and probably will continue to bother her throughout her career.

I find it funny that anyone would have a better chance of beating Venus (or Serena) on grass compared to the other surfaces. Nonetheless, I don't think the surface matters. Let's not forget that Venus beat Raymond at Wimbledon 2002 losing a total of three games.

Not to offend Raymond, but its not even a practical matter for discussion to talk about something that simply results in Venus overpowering and outperforming the lesser opponent in all aspects of the game. Doesnt Venus own Raymond? in heads to head i mean? Even on a bad day or even in worst case scenarios when her games not clicking at all ,she can realie on her shear power, athletic gifts and long reach to beat her 7-5-64 at the very worst or maybe have a scare like 7-6 than roll over her in a 6-1 walloping in less time than it even took to get to that point.

I think every one is being a little cocky. Ever one can lose. I would just like to point out two year ago when Venus owned monica and got beat in the QF. Raymond has beat top ten players Venus and no body should take her lightly. Plus Venus has a ankle injury. And a huge plaster on her knee. Now she may well have cut herself shaving. But that plays in to lisa's hands and she has a chance

I say laughing all the way to bank with my 250,000.

Mm-hmm. And that's why she lost to Myskina 6-4 in the third just last week?

She played very well the last month of 2003 and it looks to be carrying over here. You're right, she probably won't win, but I'd give her more of a chance to win than I would Harkleroad or Douchevina, or her next two potential opponents, Krasnoroutskaya or Suarez.
