It's a little exaggerated of course but she kinda did hint at it last year
Maria Sharapova tweeted her love for this behind the scenes photo from the draw ceremony on Saturday. When I asked her to explain why she loved it so much, she couldn't help but laugh. "Just because it's like a thousand words in one picture. It's incredible. Can't wait to write a book. Those are the moments where I'm like, 'Oh, my goodness. I just wrote a whole chapter in one evening.' Yeah, looked like a lot of fun, huh? Love those things." Do we sense some sarcasm there, Maria?
Let's hope that she keep her promise (even if it was said in a joking manner)
Didn't she say she had written a chapter after the 2014 WTA Finals' draw ceremony? She had limited contact with her colleagues throughout her career, it will be difficult to talk about the locker room and that's what people really want to read about, not her passion for architecture.
She'll describe her highest of highs but not dare give us a glimpse of what the tour is like or what the lows were like. She's way too incredibly stage managed and guarded for this to be slightest bit interesting.
Book her for the Chelsea Handler Show in 2017 to promote.
I really want to know how she felt being completely iced out by Serena Williams after Wimbledon 2004. That must have been hard for a teenager. Serena took it so personally.
Hope it's not a bullshit PR driven autobiography like so many sports stars have. Most only tell the true story when their careers are long done like Agassi's book. We shall see.
She has built no bridges to burn, so I don't think she's has any practical concerns about being too candid. I can see her being her typical shady droll self, in which case I will buy.
