Biggest Letdown on Tour

Tatiana Golovin - won first even on tour, then slid quickly down in the rankings

Shahar Peer - an early season 13 match win streak followed by a huge slump until YEC

Dominika Cibulkova - won Australian Open then failed to back it up with another title

Nathalie Dechy - got to 6 finals but didn't have the mentality to close out any of the finals

Elena Dementieva - showed good form coming into the Slams, winning back-to-back warm-up events before both Roland Garros and Wimbledon but fell in her first match at both

Agnieszka Radwanska - only managed to compile a 9-27 record for the season

Maria Sharapova - looked in great form in the pre-season exhibitions but failed to make a real impact once the tour got started

Biggest Shock on Tour

Dominika Cibulkova - winning Australian Open as a WC

Caroline Wozniacki - winning Wimbledon as a WC

Marta Domachowska - coming from virtually nowhere to win the US Open

Serena Williams - coming out of her mini-slump to win 15 consecutive matches, bringing her 3 titles back-to-back

Jelena Jankovic - coming from virtually nowhere to win consecutive titles during the US hardcourt series, which saw her top the US Series Race

Wimbledon - need I say more? The thread says it all!

Send your votes to me via PM, with reasons for your choices, by Saturday 8pm and the results will be announced after that

Sharapova is not a let down!

Haha just not as consistent

She won a title, finals of another and she's number 10. She has also lots of semis

Good luck everyone!

The thing is, about the one that got away, if he was meant to be in your life, then he would’ve found his way back to you.
So, you moved on; you chose a different road. Good. Keep your eyes on that.
If you’re always looking in the rear-view mirror, you’re going to miss the turn you need to make in the road ahead of you.
And believe me, there’s always plenty of road ahead of you. Focus on that.

If they truly believe that they are the best person for the award then yes, but remember you have to provide reasons for your choices

Re: OWTT Season 1 Awards

Nikki should be player of the year as she was the only player to win a slam and reach number 1. Serena was only truly great the second half of the year and Dementieva the worlds number 1 couldn't even make a slam final.

Elena Dementieva

"Showed she could beat any player at any time. Her slups were minimal."

"Dementieva finished the season ranked number one in the world. She won a lot of titles. Unfortunately, she didn’t have a lot of success during Grand Slam, but she prevailed at the YEC."

"Beat the very best at YEC Championships and World #1 for a majority of the season. The best of the best."

"If the ranking says that she is number 1 she is the best player of the year."

"She was the most consistent out of all the players and ended the season as number 1, so I choose her."

"World number 1 and 6 titles, pretty self explanitory."

Serena Williams

"Serena Williams Won 2 tournaments in a row after going into a major slump. One of which being the Olympics."

"In the beginning of the season, Serena was a good top 8 player but nothing more, she was a top player that lower ranked player liked to play as they could go believe in a possible upset. But Serena at the end of the season fought her demons, became a player that you just don't wanna play and in 5 weeks she changed her status of "I'm tyring to stay in the top 10" to "I'll be number 1 soon"."

"From a mediocre start Serena hit form after the USO open. Her loss to rival bitch Alize Cornet seemed to spur her on and she finished very strongly."

"I don't have to say anything. She won 3 tournaments in a row in the end of the year and played YEC final."

"Great ending of the year with winning the Olympics and making YEC final."

"At first she was just big talk and had no results really, but then she showed us why she thinks she's all that by winning matches after matches, so i think she's definitely the most improved player."

"Had a patchy start to the year, but ended well."
