Venus and Serena trying to qualify for YEC?

I checked the race to YEC and I see that they're sitting in the 9th position. Don't they take 8 teams?

Matthew 14:28 Then Peter called to him, “Lord, if it’s really you, tell me to come to you, walking on the water.”
29 “Yes, come,” Jesus said.
I am a pretty big Veeliver of Venus Williams, but I'm a FOLLOWER of

What's me being so 2002 mean?

And since they only take 4 teams, that means they don't have a chance do they?

They should have eight teams again.
Four is just not enough and cheapens the whole thing.

I don't care if it's a round robin or knock-off but make it for eight teams.

Re: Venus and Serena trying to qualify for YEC?

There aren't enough regular doubles pairings/doubles specialists on the WTA Tour to justify having 8 teams. I don't care how you slice it, Grandin/Uhlirova do NOT deserve to go to Istanbul

You win two matches that last 1h30 maximum and you win the YEC? Come on.
187 500$ for about 3 hours on court with little to no added value to the tournament.

Make them work for the money.

Re: Venus and Serena trying to qualify for YEC?

They should change it so the Top 8 players on the doubles list can select partners to play with in the YEC. If there are duplicates then go down on the list until it's 8 teams.

So what happens when a friend or partner holds a different opinion against your favorite?

The No. 8 team in the race has a losing record in 2012 (21-26), no Grand Slam quarterfinals, no titles, ONE international final. The YEC is supposed to be an elite tournament and that sort of record does not signify that to me.

What the ATP does with the doubles race that the WTA should adopt is that any team who wins a Grand Slam automatically goes to the YEC. If the WTA did that, we'd have the Williams sisters and Kuznetsova/Zvonareva. It would at least add two extra matches to it and provide more entertainment for the fans.

Re: Venus and Serena trying to qualify for YEC?

There is no point in maintaining the Doubles Championships.

Has anyone on this board ever seen the matches? I think if winning two doubles matches makes you Doubles World Champion... thats ridiculous.
Women´s doubles isnt as attractive/popular as mens, plus there are almost no specialists. Williams sisters can win anytime they want and care, just because they are WS. Kuznetsova/Zvonareva are two great singles players.
They should just scrap it. No one would notice the difference - it´s just three matches (here, three matches there)

Simona Halep
Juan Martin Del Potro

A lot of teams switch around because they just play with friends, whoever can get them in AND know they have no chance of making YEC. If the YEC was top 8 then a lot of teams would stay together and make a push. Like Llagostera Vives/Martinez Sanchez aren't playing together for the rest of the season because they know they won't make YEC. If it were 8 teams, a lot of teams would stick together and there would be slightly better teams going to the YEC than what the current race shows.

And I completely agree that it needs to become 8. It doesn't even need to be Round Robin. Can just be knockout. Stretch it out across the week. Thursday - 2 matches. Friday - 2 matches. Saturday - SFs. Sunday - Final. Singles starts Tuesday and Doubles starts Thursday. I mean 690 points for showing up? 1050 points for winning one match? 1500 for winning 2 matches? Give me a break.

I disagree! It's an important Event and those top teams have earned the right to play for this prestigous title!
