2013 Doubles Partnerships

Given the breakup of Peschke/Srebotnik, I thought it would be interesting to speculate about other potential pairings and pending breakups amongst current partners.

Assuming Peschke is retiring at the end of the year, who will partner with Srebotnik in 2013?

Re: 2013 Doubles Partnerships

Maybe Petrova with Srebotnik? Apparently they had to play together a few years ago, but Srebotnik injured and the partnership didn't occur. In addition, they played in Montréal last week and reached the final, so it wouldn't be surprising.
If so, then Kirilenko will play with another player.

I think the Radwanska sisters will team up, maybe Jans-Ignacik/Mladenovic too as they said after their win in Montréal that they hope to continue playing together.

Errani/Vinci, that's not in doubt I think
Dulko/Pennetta and King/Shvedova probably, as the Olympics are past now.

Re: 2013 Doubles Partnerships

I thought maybe Srebotnik/Vesnina. As I thought Kiri/Petrova was to continue, but maybe not.
Makarova/Vesnina may have had success and she could go back to Mirza but I think Srebotnik could work well for her.
I would like to see Schiavone/Pennetta continue but I don't think it will. Especially since Suarez is going to disappear again.

R.I.P Bally

the more likely it is that Gisela is removed to end of the season
and I would love to Hantuchova / Radwanska continue together

Agnieszka Radwanska
V. Williams | Jankovic | Hantuchova | Robson | Townsend

Forever: Hingis|Davenport|Henin|Dementieva|Safina

I was just about to say that. Don't count on Gisela playing any tournaments next year. She'll announce her retirement by the end of the year.

Re: 2013 Doubles Partnerships

All interesting opinions and thoughts on partnerships.

I agree that Dulko will likely retire so not sure who Pennetta will play with in 2013.

I dont know who Srebotnik will partner with either given the breakup with Peschke. Not sure who will be the best partner for her and who is available.

I wonder if Kirilenko/Petrova, Vesnina/Makarova, and Mattek-Sands/Mirza will remain partners.

I dont think huber/Raymond will stay together in 2013. Not sure with whom they will partner.

I think the Czech teams and Eranni/Vinci are a lock.

Re: 2013 Doubles Partnerships

I think the big question for 2013 is what Huber will do if she and Raymond split up? She burned the bridge with Petrova and Srebotnik doesn't like her, Mirza/Vesnina/the other Russians are clearly not an option. Everyone else has a regular partner. She likely won't be able to get anyone in the top 20/anyone she has a real chance at winning a Slam with. Will be interesting how she handles that.

Re: 2013 Doubles Partnerships

Huber has been individually the best doubles player for the last 5 years and is still #1. No way does she struggle to find a partner if she and Lisa split up.

I would actually be more worried for Lisa's future success if that were to happen (Lisa is my favourite player, but her entire career revival has been since playing with Huber - before that she was nowhere near to winning slams or being #1).

Re: 2013 Doubles Partnerships

I hear you Dave but I think that the tables have turned since Lisa and Liezel teamed up last year. I think Liezel's level of play has dipped quite a bit and she seems to be struggling with the big moments whereas Lisa has played well consistently.

I agree with CoryAnnAvants#1 that HUber might stuggle to find a partner. Her reputation precedes her and I think that there are few personalities out there who could deal with her approach and style especially now when her play and fitness level isnt what it used to be.

I guess we will see soon enough!

Re: 2013 Doubles Partnerships

^Lisa has just won an Olympic Medal and 2 slams in the past 52 weeks. No way she is retiring especially since she said she will play 2013 season.
