Odd/possibly old question about Cara Black/Rennae Stubbs

I'm sorry if this has been answered before and I couldn't find it using search...

I've watched Cara Black play in one of the tournaments near my hometown for years, back to when she played with Rennae Stubbs. Nothing against Huber (and Stubbs does have her outbreaks), but I really think that Black and Stubbs played better as a team than Black and Huber do - their styles don't really mesh as well, it seems. And I would assert that Stubbs is a far better doubles player than Huber is.

So why did they stop playing together? Was there some drama or such?

I agree with that 100%!

Cara's boyfriend was a total pain the arse - don't think he and Stubbs got on.

Moose and Rennae were friends, he is Australian like she is, and they got along quite well. What are you talking about? And Moose is the nicest guy I've ever met!

Cara and Liezel's games are far more complementary than Cara and Rennae's in my opinion. And simply watch their last tournaments together to understand why Cara left... Rennae is kind of putting pressure on her partners when things don't go her way, which is hard to stand for them...

Cara Black - Liezel Huber - Mary Pierce

Chanelle Scheepers - Abigail Spears - Vladka Uhlirova - Mervana Jugic-Salkic - Francesca Schiavone -Tsvetana Pironkova - Lisa Raymond - Sophie Lefèvre...

Re: Odd/possibly old question about Cara Black/Rennae Stubbs

Cara is a great doubles player and has proven she can win with different players. She won a slam with Rennae and 3 with Liezel. She's had great success with both, but I feel she's better with Liezel because they are good friends aswell. With Liezel, she actually dominated the tour last year. With Rennae, they were always a top team but never really dominated.

I think Rennae and Lisa played great together. They are one of the best teams of their generation n doubt.

You're right! I'd add that Liezel may not be a better player than Stubbs, but she has the eye, and as the leader of this team, where she has 100% confidence from her partner, that is very important. A doubles team is individuals and a chemistry. Difficult to get a chemistry when your partner always consider the defeats are your fault...

Re: Odd/possibly old question about Cara Black/Rennae Stubbs

Obviously I can't tell you the full story because I wouldn't do that to Rennae. They weren't even talking to each other at the end of year tournament 2 years ago in madrid. But the bottom line is, cara was a liar and Rennae was well shut.

No problem, you know Rennae's side of the story, I know another side. Well, no problem, now they both have partners and are successful with them, so let bygones be bygones... I prefer to focus on what's happening oncourt

Yes it's certainly in the past and I'm pleased Huber didn't end up sueing Cara. I was disappointed of how (and where) Cara told Rennae - but hey that's got nothing to do with me and now I wish them much happiness.

Re: Odd/possibly old question about Cara Black/Rennae Stubbs

I think Stubbs/Peschke is the most dangerous combination out there. When they are 100% they have wins like no other team is able to win, for example beating Santangelo/Molik 6-0 6-1 or recent Charleston winners Sugiyama/Srebotnik 6-2 6-0. The problem is that they aren't able to play 100% everytime.
I hope with experience growing, they win majors some day. That would be nice for Rennae as she seems to be such a hard worker

i don't think it's possible to see a most dangerous combination on two or three matchs. if a take your example, the most dangerous combination is Srebotnik and Sugiyama because they win against Peschke/Stubbs 6-2 6-0, against Black/huber the past year !!
or maybe Black/Huber because they win against Peschke/Stubbs, Molik/Santangelo and Srebotnik/Sugiyama.

This year the best result for Peschke/Stubbs is doha's title !! After, the best resut is a quarter.

we have a luck that all teams are dangerous during a tournament !! this, It's very interesting

Re: Odd/possibly old question about Cara Black/Rennae Stubbs

Stubbs is a bitch. Any tennis book you read that mentions her talks about how mouthy she is to officials/ballkids and she goes through partners like kleenex. Not saying that friends/family etc think she's a bitch, but everything I've heard and seen from watching her play leads me to believe she drives partners away with her mouth.

Re: Odd/possibly old question about Cara Black/Rennae Stubbs

Rennae’s only had 3 permanent partners since 1996. Raymond twice in this period (unfortunately the break up of their personal relationship ended their professional pairing in 2003 and left Rennae in limbo a little) and Black twice. Other people she’s played with have been stand in partners to cover injuries etc. They have not been contractual permanent partnerships.

Hm, interesting, I was not aware that "contractual permanent partnerships" exist.

What is the purpose of these... for whose benefit? Who are the parties to the contract - the two pros only, or other parties (sponsors, coaches, etc.)

Which of the current doubles teams have these contracts?

By "permanent", that means the contracts have no end date? If so, what happens when one party chooses to break the partnership?
