Groetjes Arantxa
Quick english translation:

After playing on clay, I now play a couple of weeks on grass. I find it difficult. The rallies are quick, the points short, so I don't find my rhythm. Therefore my game is very up and down.

I have to qualify for Wimby. I played against a tall girl with a good serve and strong forehand, but a less good backhand and footwork. In the first set, I got lots of "presents" from her and I won it easily. Unfotunately, she started to play much better and I made too many unforced errors, and I lost.

Luckily, I won my first doubles qualifying match. I am playing with Melanie Oudin who I know from juniors. In London, I am helped (coached) by Manon Bollegraf. She is the Fed Cup captain and I learn a lot from her, mostly how I should play on grass, and in doubles. I have heard the criticism from Misa about Manon, but I don't want to go into it. It's Misa's choice (Misa won't play Fed Cup with Manon as captain because of something Manon said to a paper in January - in case anyone doesn't know it).

During RG, Richard Krajicek wrote his column about me. I don't know him, but that sort of thing is always nice to read. Since I made the 2nd round in Paris, I am more known in NL. In the media, they say my name in the Spanish way, but it is pronounced like: A-rant-ska. I was not named after Sanchez Vicario - the great player from the 90s. My parents just thought it was a beautiful name.

After the grass season, I'll play some WTA tournaments on clay, and then go to America to prepare for the US Open which is at the end of August. At this moment I am 107 in the world. My goal before the US Open is to be in the top 100 so I don't have to play qualifying and am directly into the main draw.

Greetings, Arantxa.

Thanks so much Sarah.

Aran. I hope she can achieve her short term goal of being a direct entry into the USO.

Re: Arantxa Rus

At 107, she's pretty close to being direct into MD anyway - I mean usually it's 108 - but then it depends on SRs too.

Thanks so much for the translation

I think we would all like to see her get straight into the MD at Flushing Meadows

Re: Arantxa Rus

Summary of the column of Richard Krajicek:

I don't know her game very well. But I have seen her play just a couple of times and noticed that she really takes some risks in her shots. I didn't think her forehand was solid enough at that time, but obviously she has been working on that for the last couple of months otherwise she wouldn't have been able to qualify for RG.
Apparently she doesn't had stage frights. Many players get nerves playing a Grand Slam for the first time. But Aran won her 1st match 6-1 6-1. With those 4 wins she has shown that she has matured. Without a doubt Hugo Ekker, coach of the Dutch Juniors and Aran, had something to do with that. He helped her put more variation in her shots. Normally Aran would hit everything hard. We should not get carried away, this is just her 1st step in what could be a succesul career. She is fully focused on her tennis career which makes her less vulnerable for distractions which happens to a lot to young tennis players these days. But Aran seems to have the right attitude.
She has chosen not to play Rosmalen, but try to qualify for Wimbledon. That shows that she's not afraid of making choices and that she does not doubt. She has a plan and really goes for it. And that will be shown in her game as well. Although we could not see that on court 4 of Roland Garros yesterday (2nd round singles).

First of all thanks for the translation!

And secondly, I completely agree with the bolded point. For her forehand she used to hold onto the racquet for too long, have too much of a take back but it's certainly improved. Still needs to be worked on but it shows she's learning.

Re: Arantxa Rus

But Aran has always had her own "special" strokes, and I have talked with some friends of mine (also tennis coaches) and they didn't think that she necessarily had to change the entire stroke.

Ohh Jessica Moore first up, Jess' first game in a while I believe. A repeat of the 2007 AO juniors final, Arantxa should win.

Nope, Jess just played a tourney in Scandinavia. She made the 2nd r - losing to Marlot Meddens in 3.
