Moscow 2007

Nice draw for Misa for a big event like Moscow!

Michaella Krajicek vs. Q

In a possible second round Serena Williams.

Good luck Misa!

Re: Moscow 2007

Though I really hope she will play some smaller tournaments after this or next year! Her level is good enough to win some of them like she did before. In tournaments like these, she doens't come further than the second round.

Re: Moscow 2007

That's true, 60 points. That's as much as for a GS second round. It's very important that Misa wins that first round, so in that case a qualifier is good news.

Re: Moscow 2007

60 points for making the second round at Moscow seems kinda silly actually - but well, nice for misa if she can get it.

I don't think she's about to start playing lower tier tourneys anytime soon though. Gerben and I had a little discussion about that recently, and well, Misa hasn't actually done that well in the smaller tourneys this year (Hobart, Prague, Palermo - all 1st r losses). Although I wish she would play some more smaller tourneys, and not so many really big tourneys.

Re: Moscow 2007

Wow 60 points! I didn't know that. In that case it's pretty smart to play Moscow!
Sometimes the WTA ranking is so strange.

It has been really strange that Misa did so bad in the smaller tournaments this year. Sometimes I really don't get her. She plays a small tournament and loses pretty badly to a no name. A week later she does very well in a bigger tournament. For exemple Parlermo / San Diego / Los Angeles.

I think Misa's basic game is good, but when something is off, for exemple her serve, she's lost. And she always seems to lose the important points against top 10 players.

She really has to work on her footwork more! But I read something about a new coach / trainer. I hope that will work out very well!

Re: Moscow 2007

She's training with some South African dude. McCaw or something. But it's just for these last few tourneys this year, and then she will choose between him and Chalupa (the Czech guy who went to America with her before USO).

Re: Moscow 2007

Misa got lucky! She has to play against Tatiana Perebiynis tomorrow morning.
Last week she won against her with 6-3 6-2 in the qualifications of Stuttgart.
Maybe if she wins she can get in the top 30 for the first time! That would be great!

Good luck Misa!

Nice scheduling from Moscow too - I should be able to watch the scores from work!

Re: Moscow 2007

But Misa lost... 4-6 6-1 5-7
She was leading 4-2 in the third with no problems on her serve, but suddenly lost it.
And she had 3 consecutive breakpoints on 5-5 in the third, with Perebiynis not getting her first serve in...
She also missed a breakpoint at 3-1 in the third (but that can happen) and missed a gamepoint for 5-2. She had plenty of chances to win the match.

Maybe I sound a bit negative (sorry Sarah), but it's right after a match she should have won that would have given her 60 very important ranking points...

Re: Moscow 2007

Misa this was your chance to reach the top 30 for the first time.
She really has to learn to take her chances! This was pathetic!

No - you just said what happened, and you didn't have a go at her. She should have won the match.

Re: Moscow 2007

Damn this blows. Everytime the serve is going good (or at least decently) it falls apart.

Patiently waiting for ANA, MISA and DANI to start playing tennis again.
