Maybe she wants to "train" by playing a $10k. Of course it's not going to do much for her ranking, but then I'm sure she'll play both the $25k's in NL too, so what's the problem really? If she wins Enschede, another 6 points aren't gonna HURT her ranking. And the field for Vlaardingen will surely not be so strong when it's time for the tourney. It's still over 2 weeks to go yet. There will be quite some withdrawals - which is normal, because there are heaps of tourneys that week.

Re: Chayenne Ewijk

Well, I tend to agree here more with "Hollander": even 6 points for winning the 10K tournament for her level is not that much.

But my wild guess here: may be near Enschede some of here friends or relatives are living?
So after celebrating her 20-th birthday with them (on 17-th Aug ) she would play (18-24 Aug) on "home territory" and have some fun

By the way here are several more pictures from Dnipropetrovsk 50K tournament for Chayenne fans. I hope you would like it

Re: Chayenne Ewijk

@Edgars: Chayenne lives in Spain with her family (but her family are Dutch). It's possible that she has friends in Enschede. I did say that 6 points won't do much for her ranking, but either way, it's not going to hurt her ranking, and maybe she's using the week as a training week by playing a smaller tourney and getting more match practice, rather than just hitting without playing a match. I don't think it really makes a difference if she plays a $10k or has a week training (in regards to her ranking). It's probably a good warm up for the 2x$25ks. Besides, it's not like she plays $10k after $10k with her ranking. This is the first one she's played in a while.

And thanks again for the pics.

Re: Chayenne Ewijk

I see that despite winning a doubles title at Enschede ITF-10 (along with Pauline Wong) she lost in semi-final, in Dutch derby, to Marlot Meddens (tournament winner): I see it was a tight match (lost a tie break in the third decisive set of the match)

Good luck Chayenne now at Vlaardingen!

Re: Chayenne Ewijk

Now let's hope Glasgow singles will be better. I'm starting to think that Aran's gonna be the only Dutchite playing AO next year. (of the females I mean).

Why would she do that? It's her first preference!

Her last three matches in singles were pretty bad, but she showed earlier this year that she has the level to reach the top 200 very soon. Winning matches this year against Flipkens, Ivanova, Yakimova and Oprandi is not bad at all. Hope she will be 100% fit and can reach the AO qualies.
