Thread update:

Silvia continued her fine form in dispatching Tina Pisnik 6-0, 6-4 to advance to the QF. She'll play Kimmie today.

Serve up that Belgian waffle!

p.s. Silvia and Francesca also advanced to the doubles quarters by knocking off the top seeds Loit & Mandula 6-3, 6-3 the other day. Next up are Safina/Bedanova.

Forza Ragazze!!!

Kim rallied past our Silvia 3-6, 7-5, 6-3.

A heartbreaking loss but you'd never know it judging by Silvia's post match comments. Macmillan, I hope you don't mind but I thought it was appropriate to post in our Silvia thread so I stole this from General Messages.

"It's always tough playing Silvia because she doesn't give you any rhythm," said Clijsters. "Her slice shots force you to bend down all the time. I think it was a great match.

"I never thought I was out of it, even at 5-2 in the second set. If you think that way you should just walk to the net and shake hands," Clijsters added.

Farina Elia was naturally disappointed by the loss, but buoyed by the outstanding play she produced throughout the match.

"I think in the first two sets, this was the best tennis I've played in my career," said Farina Elia. "Even though I lost today, I feel I was the winner because of the way I played. It gives me a lot of confidence.

"I've learned a lot from the other times I've played against (Kim), and I used them in the match today. I tried to be more aggressive, which is the way I have to play if I want to stay at the top of the game."

NOW GO WIN THE DOUBLES DAMMIT!

It's be great if Silvia and Fran can capture the doubles title tomorrow. I'd love to see a photo of them smiling while raising the trophy.

Silvia now plays in the Proximus Diamond Games. Here is Silvia's quarter!

Schnyder VS Bye
LL VS Q
Callens VS Loit
Sanchez-Lorenzo VS Farina Elia

I think Silvia can make the semis here!!!

Well, we got to see some great pix of Silvia and Francesca smiling while raising runner up trophy. (See KoolmanSteven's "Tournament Photos" thread in Open de Gaz Forum).

Macmillan, I agree, a favorable draw. Hopefully Silvia is not too tired and can rev up the engines again for another strong showing...

Go Silvia!!!
