Re: Nastassya Burnett Cheering Thread

Am curious about this player and interested in seeing her play--is Nastassja likely to make qualies in Miami, do you think?

Really? What makes you say that?

I saw two of her matches in Miami--she won against Minella, then lost against Mayr-Achleitner, both in three sets. Didn't think her serve was that bad--in fact, it got her out of some spots at times. You can say 85% of the women pros have "bad serves" if your measuring stick is that they lose serve 50 % of the time. Women break serve a lot. That's just the nature of the women's game.

Her movement is average, especially given that she is a tall player, and as for the choker part, I think that is uncalled for. Other than Serena Williams, can you name a player who consistently closes out sets, let alone matches, without barfing up games? They all do it. It's nerves, and it happens to all of them. "Inexperienced" might be a better word. She fought hard against Mayr, but in the end, just came up a little short against a player who was a bit more consistent that day. Perhaps venturing to the net a bit more, or trying a couple of drop shots would have benefitted her in that match, but it's a learning experience. Labeling her a 'choker' is pretty non-productive.

uhm, 2-3 years ago in Rome, she was on Pietrangeli stadium, chatting with her mother ( another horrible person ) + texting...so she was basically doing nothing...i recognized her, so i kindly asked her a pic, she answered no, it wasnt the appropriate moment , she was very busy...the day later after practice session i asked her again for a pic...she stared at me very bothered and said ( in dialect, not in Italian ) "ok, lemme have a pic with this guy here"...extremely rude...she is noone, she wasnt supposed to play matches, there is no need to be rude with fans...

she is around 180 cm, she is supposed to serve way better :/ i dont say she has to serve like Serena, but she should take advantage of her heigh

No man :/ her movement is really, really bad...she is probably the worse mover in the top 150...so slow coming out form the serve and extremely slow on her lateral movements

I have to disagree again, man...if i remember correctly only in the 2013 she lost more than 10 amtches after she got match point or set point...she is a mental midget...this year she already lost 2 matches after having set poinht ( Krunic and Cabeza Candela ), when she serves for a set, she gets sistematically broken...

Perhaps venturing to the net a bit more
It sees you a new fan of her she just cant hit smashes/volley...also the easiest one, she misses them...dunno why...in fact, especially on clay, opponents realize it, they start making moonballs, she cant close them at the net, so it is or a free point, or she needs to start again the rally from the beginning :/

i think she will get in the top 100, but she needs to improve a lot if she wants to be a good tennis player...
